As a ZooChatter who loves ungulates as much as I love elephant shrews; naturally, it seemed that a thread like this would come around at some point. Sure, it’s been some time since I last made a similar thread. But after spreading the news about the birth of Zoo Miami’s newest giant eland. I felt very inspired to ask this simple question of what your top five species of antelope are, that is all; and to start things off, here’s my answer for reference:
1. Bongo
2. Giant Eland
3. Jackson’s Hartebeest
4. Nilgai
5. Lesser Kudu
Honorable Mention/s:*
1. Pronghorn - (not a true antelope I know)
2. Blackbuck
3. Gerenuk
4. Klipspringer
5. Addax
(*means that this will be subject to change)
Don't know how I missed this thread! Antelope are my all-time favorite group of animals!! #1 should come as no surprise now I'll have to figure out 2-5...
Here goes:
1. Giant Eland
2. Mountain Nyala (I don't think I've seen this on the thread so far!)
3. Hirola
4. Chiru
5. Zebra Duiker

1. Jentink's Duiker (almost got the 5th spot!)
2. Saiga
3. Beira
4. Roan
5. Gemsbok
6. Nile Lechwe
7. Dibatag
8. Sitatunga
