Hi everyone
This is just a quick thing to say that CAPS (Captive Animals Protection Society) will be having their Zoo Awarness Weekend from April 11th-13th, so they will be protesting outside alot of British Zoos and making a huge Nuisance of them selves  Thought you should know just incase you visit a zoo this weekend, good job im going tomorow (friday) otherwise i might have a few words to say about that! ;)
I wish the zoos good luck!
Zoo Awareness Day 2009 - There is a link if you are interested
Feel free to add coments just thought you should all know. :)
Regards

Thanks for the warning - as it happens, I'm going to Bristol Zoo on Sunday and Paignton Zoo on Monday. Hope there won't be any protesters there :(

I agree instead of trying to close down every single zoo that is struggling they should be helping them if they want to do something to help the animals!
By closing them down they are killing the animals as they have no where else to go!:mad:
The protesting does not help either animals can hear the racket they are making and they are making a huge nuisance to the owners and keepers

I hope so mhale good luck anyways ,im going to Whipsnade Friday hopefully ,The most likely places for loads of them portesters have beenover the past years Blackpool and London but other zoos have had them too. I think on some cases police might have been called in? that might not be that true though anyone know anything?
Regards

Yeah, they really aggravated me when I was doing an essay on welfare in zoos. Sigh. Is there nothing to zoos can do to just have them removed from the premesis? Or do they protest just outside the premesis?

I'll let you all know if they're at Marwell on Sunday.

Thanks im pretty sure if the zoos wanted they could get removed? Hmm not sure but i would reckon CAPS know what they are doing in terms of where to protest outside the zoos.
I think its a rather triky issue
Hope good news from Marwell,Bristol and Paignton.:)

I'd imagine they'd probably focus on the larger zoos rather than Marwell though. I'm going to have a lot of fun contradicting them when they preach at me if they are there on Sunday.

I think that would be playing right into their hands. How easy it would be to say that any zoo which took action to prevent a protest had something to hide.

Thing is these protestors obviously dont support zoos and therefore dont visit them. So the individuals who protest may actually not know how things have changed over the years from a monkey kept in a cage to the monkey that now has its own island and inside housing area.

I wonder what response I'd get if I did ask when the last time they'd visited a zoo was...?

They rely on pictures and second hand info so they have not seen the animals/exhibits themselves so basically they dont know anything!
They do not understand anything now and they are not willing to accept that zoos have got better either!

I know that if i thought zoos where bad for the animals i would not go because i am a true animal enthusiast/lover i care for them what ever, I do not use them like Caps to so they can close down every zoo they can, but do they really care about the outcome of the animals????

Sorry if i get rather serious its an issue i feel very strongly about.

I'll keep my picture of the new African Valley on my camera then to show them. I took a panormaic view. Took three pictures to get it all in. I dont suppose that will shut them up though =/

Tell me if they ask whether it's photoshop.

Might be going to Whipsnade on Sunday (was going to this Friday but that was put off due to rain) so I'll keep an eye out.
