I think I see where the confusion came from - I quoted your White-tailed Deer post along with 3 other species that I was saying didn't count, but I was only quoting the deer because that post had your total score in it and I was changing your total score. On re-read it does look like I was saying the deer also didn't count, so that was my bad!
With the omission of manatees, I will continue my list with 53 again to keep my numbers correct! Also, my last Bronx Zoo visit should have read February 4, not January. Sorry for that!
ZooAmerica: February 10, 2025
53.) White tailed-deer (Odocoileus virginianus)
54.) Pronghorn (Antilocapra americana)
55.) Gray wolf (Canis lupus)
56.) Black-tailed prairie dog (Cynomys ludovicianus)
57.) Common vampire bat (Desmodus rotundus)
I was also wondering if I could get some clarification on rodents that we can claim on our lists? Are we just limited to the handful mentioned in the OP, or can we list others? I have a lot of species from the Bronx Zoo mouse house that I’ve seen, but I want to ask before I start listing!

Question: If you see the same species at different zoos or aquariums or go to the same zoo or aquarium several times, do you count each species only once?

That's why I asked. I figured they might count, because they are in the same genus as Kangaroo's but wasn't sure if you specifically left them out by using "Kangaroos & Wallabies" instead of a broader genus or family name.
Wish I'd know you were going, I could have saved you some time I've visited CALM several times and I've only seen the bat once, when I happened to be there during its feeding time. The squirrel is hit or miss.
Honestly, it probably wouldn't have stopped from trying the multiple times that I did throughout my visit lol. The only other rarer zoo species that I didn't see was a the ringtail (I know it's not relevant to this challenge), but I knew I would have a few more opportunities to see those later on (which I did at Living Desert, Big Bear, and Orange County).
Anyways, I spent time catching up today with my visits for both of the challenges and my total is now at 152.

Haha true. I'm glad someone recognized what I was doing though with the "No new species that qualify" versus "No species that qualify". Most of the medium to bigger zoos were at least giving me a few species for both this and the global competition by the end of this trip, but it is already getting harder and harder to get more. This is evident when looking at @Kudu21's list of what counted at the San Diego facilities for him versus me, as I had already seen many of those species by the time I got to those zoos.
Out of curiosity, has someone come up with a maximum number of species possible for this competition? I know this may not be perfectly accurate, but would still be interested in knowing.
EDIT: The fast and furious number of zoo visits I have made so far this year will be slowing down here though, as the college baseball season started this weekend and my time will be consumed with umpiring for the next 6+ months. I always make visits during the season sporadically throughout my travels, but it definitely won't be anything like 30+ collections I visited in the past week and half. Perhaps, another trip like this will happen once the season is over.
