Novosibirsk Zoo Novosibirsk Zoo

That marbled cat along with other animals was originally handed over to Eduard Khachaturyan, a notorious animal trader of Armenian origin (and Armenia is a CITES loophole). He has a private zoo 'Monkey Planet' with illegally imported young orangutans near Moscow. He committed raider seizure of the land & animals of other private zoo 'Exotic Park'. Also possibly he supplied baby apes and other animals for RIO mall zoos in Moscow & St.Petersburg.
Мосправда
В Домодедово задержали женщину, которая везла в чемодане 108 экзотических животных
Not long ago some of his animals were seized by authorities, including false gharials, iguanas, hornbills, gibbons, colobuses, Humboldt penguins, ring-tailed lemurs, marmosets and star tortoise, with a puny $200 fine. Суд конфисковал десятки экзотических животных у владельца частного зоопарка - ЗооТверь - Тверской справочно - информационный портал для любителей животных
And I have seen a bad taxidermy of obviously smuggled marbled cat offered for sale in Russia.

Thank you for your reply. So the Liliger cubs born a few years ago are now in circuses?
Was really hoping to go and see them wherever they ended up.

I didn't find out where Zita's offspring ended up, but nearly every lion & tiger owner in Russia tries to breed a hybrid.

Do you know any other places perticularly around Moscow area where I might find any hybrids? COVID permitting I have a trade show to attend in the summer in Moscow and it would be great to see something different.

There are probably big cat hybrids in Moscow but they're privately owned and not displayed.
A female liger lives in zoo of Oktyabrskiy Resort in Sochi (though not sure if she's alive now since not listed at site and being born in 2007), and a male liliger in Primorsky Safari Park. The other captive hybrids available for display are travelling with their circus/menagerie and hard to locate. There were 2 tigons born in circus in 2016 & 2020.
I don't know about any jaguar, leopard or cougar hybrids in Russia but if there were any they would definitely get media coverage.

Thanks thats a great help. Will do some investigating

I'm surprised no one mentioned the the arrival of the anteaters from Denmark. Also is the ZTL listing of this facility accurate? Because their website doesn't list every animal they have.

Also did they just get honey badgers?

Novosibirsk Zoo is set to receive pygmy hippos from Thailand this spring, with the facilities nearly ready. Rather than being a purchase, this will be an exchange, with Pallas's cats, yellow-throated martens, and even polar bears being sent to Thailand.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s absurd to keep polar bears and Pallas’s cats in Thailand? Do Thailand and Russia have any concerns about the welfare of these animals?
