Talks about a new Taman Safari built at Ibu Kota Nusantara

IKN is barely even functional as a new city with lots of money wasted into it and for them to prioritize building a safari park over other infrastructures?? To be honest I don't like where this is heading considering government kept on wasting money on the wrong things that should be prioritized.

Unfortunately that's a running theme with the new government, bombastic promises that lack perspective on what the country actually needs. I wouldn't be surprised if this project gets scrapped.

And the only one's sufferings are the actual native wildlife who have to lose their home because the government cant stop being an idiot on prioritizing the important infrastructure that actually needs it. There's literally zero need of another taman safari when we not only have three parks plus one that is basically turned into a TS branch, the last thing this country needs is a subpar zoo in their disposal thanks to government's idiocy.

With the current situation of IKN seen in the news, it's very unlikely that the safari park (and the city itself) will be coming anytime soon.

I both love and hate the irony in this situation. Regardless of your view, a massive portion of rainforest, home to various species and indigenous peoples, are cleared to be a part of a government project that most likely prioritized Investment from large companies and such. This proposed "Taman Safari", not only that it's very obvious that they're profit-oriented and are proposed by a big business with most likely less interest in conservation, the irony of that land taken from the wildlife and indigenous peoples to be build for a "safari park" that will most likely falsely promoted conservation and education is honestly just sad.

Taman Safari Indonesia has done very well in conservation and research (With PCBA and various other projects), it's worth remembering that they're still a massive conglomerate in Indonesia, and this is just one part of their business.

Whether the park will actually come or not there's pretty much no denying a huge part of wildlife habitat had been cut down and to have that plot to be turned into place for captive wildlife is irony in its pure form. Of course there's no denying on the conservation projects Taman Safari itself has done but anyone with naked eye can basically see they're just building a new attraction on money they can waste on and the losers here are the native wildlife living there.
