An exception has been made to consider the generic and Masai giraffes separately, so you can count the generic giraffe now and Masai giraffe later if you see them.

The Safari Park was much kinder to me for this challenge than it was the Global Challenge :p The only no-shows were the species currently off-display (slender-horned gazelle and peninsular pronghorn) — I even got a fleeting glimpse of an ever elusive bongo on a late afternoon tram!

Being fairly new on this site, I was wondering if the user totals are kept somewhere that we can see them?

Being fairly new on this site, I was wondering if the user totals are kept somewhere that we can see them?

They are not - I keep track of everyone's totals offline in a master spreadsheet. I do plan on periodically posting a current leaderboard, so that everyone can see where they stand and make sure the totals I have for them are correct (and as a reminder to update their scores if they've fallen behind).

Also a quick note for you on scorekeeping: "numbered list" means your total number of all species counted so far, not a numbered list for each individual zoo. So right now I have you at 19, and on your next visit start your species counting at 20. Otherwise welcome to the game and to the forum as well :)

Okay, thanks.

Okay, finally time to start participating! January has been a historically rough month for a multitude of reasons, so no zoo trips happened. Hopefully this isn’t an omen for the rest of this year.

Prior to today’s visit, I counted 21 eligible species at Riverbanks Zoo, and I managed to see 19 of them. Not a bad haul. Red ruffed lemurs were off exhibit, but no idea where the harbor seal was.
