The pair of largetooth sawfish from lake Sentani are probably the aquarium's most notable former species. Dunia Serangga next door also notably once had a horrible menagarie for small mammals (I.e Java mouse-deer, large flying fox, several squirrels, etc.).

This thread is created to collect informations and/or list of former species held in Dunia Air Tawar & Serangga, any help is appreciated!

The aquarium briefly had an hoplias malabaricus from 2020 all the way to before the revitalization. It was likely the first and only public holder of the species in Indonesia.

There used to be an area before the revitalization that had multiple small tanks for gouramis. This include several small tanks for different farmed variations of osphronemus gouramis. Notably, the also have multiple small tanks for various breeds of betta fish, as well as two additional tanks for trichopodus trichopterus, trichogaster chuna, trichogaster lalius, trichogaster chuna, trichopodus leeri, trichopsis vittata, and sphaerichthys osphromenoides, all of them had yet to be displayed again.

Dunia Air Tawar used to famouly held electric eel, which became one of their main attraction. An specimen was held from the 2000's up until around 2015. Another specimen was brought in 2019, which was claimed to be the species electrophorus voltai, reportedly imported from Suriname. The Surinamese specimen only lasted for year until 2020, where economic restrictions and shortages caused by the Covid-19 pandemic likely contributed to it being gone. Regardless, there seems to be no plan ahead on getting another electric eel.

Additionaly, like with most aquarias, their red-bellied piranha exhibition is also once popular. We might see them again in the future, as they're listed in the Jagat Satwa Nusantara website and considering their popularity, same case with their allig

DAT once kept elusive kankan catfishes back in 2016. It was referred as "African Vacuum-mouthed Catfish" in the signage:

I didn't realize I had a stroke typing this one. My point is that some species are almost guaranteed to return to display on the basis of their popularity and marketability, like pirarucu.

The pirarucus are likely to be housed later in the open-top paludarium that once housed a variety of large fishes like pangasius, pacus and mahseers
