I see, thank you! Did I imagine that there’s plans for a refurbishment of the Twycross orangutan enclosure? You’d think they’d like to have a second outside space (and potentially a second separate on show den) to avoid this happening in the future? Or is that not feasible?

One of the main parts of the NSCC development is a new orangutan complex, so probably no refurbishments to the current enclosures (at least not for the orangs). From what I’ve seen of the plans, their new space will include 3 outdoor enclosures, so there shouldn’t be any need for rotation there.

These are the plans, with the "Combined Masterplan" and "Render Masterplan" available on page 5, both providing a good overview of how the finished product might look.

They’re coming down to make way for the new science centre and Orang-Utan enclosures.

Twycross has announced the opening of a reptile house this Easter called The World Of Reptiles & Spiders! Log in to Facebook
This new exhibit will be home to some of the world’s rarest spiders, reptiles are more.

On March 23rd, the zoo announced they moved their Chinese crocodile lizard from its previous exhibit in Gibbon Forest to a new enclosure in The World of Reptiles & Spiders.

The zoo announced yesterday that the Jamaican boas have moved from the Grufflao area into the reptile house.

The zoo announced yesterday that the Jamaican boas have moved from the Grufflao area into the reptile house.

Following on from this, Fijian banded iguana (Brachylophus fasciatus) has been announced for the new area this morning.
