Hey hey. Just looking at the website - I can't actually find a species list for this zoo which also, as of yet, does not appear to report to ISIS.

Going through the gallery, previous threads and the website, I've come up with the following animals that are there. Can anyone add more for me?

- Lion
- Tiger
- Cheetah
- Serval
- Syrian Brown Bear
- White Rhinoceros
- River Hippopotamus
- Pygmy Hippopotamus
- Spider Monkey

Is that it, or are there more species (particularly mammal species but bird, reptile and amphibian too) to add to the list?

not sure what is still there or if any of the animals from the northern territory have been transferred but there are also a number of other ungulates at the zoo, also lemurs.

Meant to include the ring-tailed lemurs. What ungulates are present, do you recall?

It appears that despite being a new zoo and only just being admitted to ARAZPA (provisionally at that) Cairns has already managed to go past Australia Zoo for exotic mammals (with the exception of the Ashton's elephants). Australia Zoo, for all those resources, is the best private zoo in Australia for setting and exhibit design, but trails fourth(!) for diversity of exotics in Australian private zoos (Mogo first, Canberra second, Cairns third).

All but one of the Ashton's circus elephants are deceased, Gigi, the remaining one now lives at Taronga Western Plains Zoo along withe the Lennon's last elephant Arna and the Bullen's Burma, the three at Australia Zoo are Bullen's Elephants. As I said I am not totally sure what is at the zoo. my knowledge is of what was owned by the previous owner and may not have been moved to cairns, they may still be on the game farm in NT. But there were Eland, Kudu, Addax, Scimitar Oryx a few deer species, from memory. I'll see if I can find the information. They also have a dingo.

Ah, my mistake. I knew they were ex-circus elephants.

Cairns has also had or has Japanese Macaques and Sulawesi Macaques....they had them when the zoo first opened.

That's what I couldn't think of. The japanes macaques had a few problems with ticks I believe as did one of the other primates.

They also have
Ringtail Lemurs
Mueller Gibbon
Siamang Gibbon
Oriental Small clawed Otters
Alpaca's
Ostrichs
Dingoes (arriving soon)
Blue tongue lizards
Turtle
Snakes
Frogs
Deer
