A 1.0 chimpanzee was born on January 26th. However, he appears to be being hand raised for now due to not getting the care he needs.

Dallas Zoo on Instagram: "Hi baby! Meet the newest member of our chimpanzee troop – a healthy baby boy born on January 26 to first-time mom, JB. In the weeks after his birth, our animal care teams noticed that JB wasn’t consistently providing the care and nutrition the little one needed, which sometimes left him cranky and weak. After careful monitoring, the team made the decision to step in and hand-raise him to give him the support he needs. Now receiving round-the-clock care from our zoologists, this little one is making incredible progress! He is being bottle-fed every three hours, having his weight and temperature monitored, and receiving consistent, responsive care to help him grow stronger each day. JB is given every opportunity to see and be near her baby throughout this process, as you can spot in the video! Maternal care is a learned skill, especially for first-time moms like JB. Before birth, our teams worked closely with her on maternal training, and while she made great progress, it's not uncommon for first-time moms to need a little extra support as they adjust to this new role. Our goal is always to support both mom and baby in every way possible while giving them the best chance to thrive together. Once the little one is old enough, we plan to reintegrate him back into our chimpanzee troop, where he will continue to grow and learn from his troop members. We’ll be sharing more updates on this little one’s journey, so stay tuned!"

Perhaps I'm missing something, but the herpetarium doesn't seem to be on the current zoo map. Is it currently undergoing renovations or something?

Mentioned on the zoo's Facebook page, he has been named "Makutu".

I also heard that the former crocodile cove at the herpetarium will be replaced by a mixed species exhibit with birds and mammals including bats, it'll open on the 28th of April, and the butterfly exhibit will open in early April

I have a feeling that the Dallas Zoo might get a nocturnal exhibit

A Rüppel’s Griffon Vulture has hatched at Dallas being the first in their history. The chick hatched on March 15 - reported on FB page.
Great breeding achievement. It is applaudable that over recent years more focus has been put into getting the African vulture species to breed (alongside some Eurasian ones... like cinereous vulture et cetera).

the map has updated again, the kopje aviary has been removed and Blue Duikers have been added seemingly to where the lappet-faced vultures used to be.
