SeaWorld San Diego Penguin Encounter closing?

I have not heard this at all. From what I have been told, the emperors are staying in Orlando for the foreseeable future.

That gets to the point that until Sea World either announces the penguin moves assumed here (closing down the penguin complex in San Diego and/or shipping the emperor penguins elsewhere), or actually does it without announcing it, we really do not know what is going on and things should be treated as rumor and speculation.

At this point I believe the best thing to do is ask if these rumors are true by the park. I feel like it would be unreasonable for the park to just get rid of the Emperors and complex without letting the public know, especially if the Emperors were to be leaving by the end of this month, an announcement should have been sent a month ago.

I guess the point I am trying to make is that I am relaying information I have been told directly from the animal care team, which did not include information that the emperors would be going to Abu Dhabi.

It is also possible that the animal care team would not be in charge of that decision. Really all we have are rumors until the park makes an announcement or an actual move.

Side note, has there been any updates about the emporer chick/s?

Weren't you the one who first said that they were going there though? And again, where did you hear this?

Just to say they are still selling the penguin inside tour till at least the end of the year, so that would point to the penguins not being moved out till at least then.

Indeed, both the regular one and the more expensive Antarctic only one. Which makes me very much question whether the dates listed for the penguin's supposed moving dates are indeed true.

I've gone on a penguin tour at SeaWorld Orlando before and they told us specifically that it was about 10-15 degrees too hot for Emperor penguins. I wonder if the temperature will be changed or they will just be held in a back area and maybe they'll cover the actual penguin habitat with glass like the former Penguin Encounter.

"I hope and pray it is the best banded penguin exhibit we have ever seen. From what I have heard, it will be impressive."

Do you have any more details on what this might be like, because that seems like a lot of land for just an outdoor penguin exhibit, since the opened up land is nearly double the size of the African penguin exhibit at the San Diego zoo?

What would the cost of building a new state of the art penguin exhibit like the one in Orlando or Detroit vs a new out door magellan penguin exhibit also were the emperors moved out at the end of last month or are they still here.

Apparently the penguin move was pushed back and they are being moved today (according to employee). All emperors and all but 10 macaronis.
