As part of the Frontier Unlocked Livestream earlier today, we were provided with the following key-art (see above); which seems to confirm the Coyote and the Greater Rhea as upcoming additions for the new dlc.

Based on what was mentioned in the livestream, it appears that this will be yet another “animal pack” with a supposed Western scenery theme.
Coyote, Greater Rhea, Bushdog, Ocelot, White Faced Saki and American Flamingo

Copying Thomas a bit here, my thoughts on the animals...

Coyote - I'm glad to see these guys added. They're far from the most thrilling canines, but they'll make a very nice addition to the roster. I tend to theme areas of my zoos into "trails" and these'll fit nicely in a North America themed area or in an "American Grasslands" space. Will be nice too to have a canine that (I expect) has a lower space need and a lower cost, but that's hopefully a bit less shy than foxes seem to be.

Greater Rhea - I'm excited for this! Birds are cool. I think the models look really good. They fit in well with the current roster of ratites and I think they'll be a very unique inclusion into South America themed zoo sections. Just overall pleased to see these guys added, I think ratites are neat.

Bush dog - I don't think I was really familiar with this animal before this lol. I was expecting something like a prairie dog or groundhog... nope! Fully a canine. Good on Frontier for elevating an animal that's maybe less well-known. Will be a very cool addition to Peruvian sections alongside the capybara and llama.

Ocelot - I think these look fine. Models look nice. I love my feline friends at home but in general big cats/exotic cats just don't really woo me. I think they look nice and I think they'll be a very fun addition to tropical sections. When it comes to zoos I'm just really not a big cat person! I'm biased for sure. I think the models look really nice.

White Faced Saki - I know a lot of folks on Reddit seemed really disappointed that this didn't end up being a vulture. I love primates so I don't care- these are neat! Really wonderful-looking models and a very striking appearance. People IRL seem to love a black and white primate and I think these'll make a very eye-catching addition. Will be interesting to see if Frontier adds their territorial displays (raising their hair).

American Flamingo - I don't think we have any in-game photos of this yet? So my thoughts here are a little more scant. I think it's nice that they're adding a flamingo that's from the Americas. A bit of cursory googling indicates that these guys are pinker than their Greater counterparts, which will be very visually appealing. Will look nice when displayed near gators.

Bighorn Sheep - Love these guys. Big ol' ram horns! Just gorgeous! I just think these are fun. Maybe not the most striking animals but they'll make a very nice addition. Will be nice to include a caprine in a North American section that isn't quiteeee so northern as the Dall sheep.

Overall I'm excited. I think these are fun additions. Haven't played PZ in ages but will probably pick it up again in a few days!

This is definitely my best habitat yet...

The PZ greater rhea model is pretty bad. I was excited about its inclusion, but I can't look past its major design flaws.

Honestly, between that and the very uninspiring coyote pick, this pack is a mixed bag for me.

So I saw this video shared on planet zoo’s official twitter account and I do not like it. I am not flamingo specialist but I don’t think flamingoes are supposed to run like that.

I'm curious what you're not liking? The rhea seems to have gotten quite a bit of work put into it with the fully feathered wings and such.

With the Americas Pack released, what are your thoughts on this year's Summer DLC? My guess is a Safari or Savannah pack!

My List is mostly Copy-Paste Species from Zoo Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon 2, with originals that placed bets on would be in this pack.

Safari or Savannah Pack:
-Olive Baboon
-Masai Giraffe
-Gerenuk
-Secretarybird (It was mentioned)
-Bat-eared Fox
-Serval
-Honey Badger
-Impala
-Grey-crowned Crane
-Black-backed Jackal
-Greater Kudu
-Lesser Flamingo
-Marabou Stork
-Leopard Tortoise
-Common Eland
-Vervet Monkey
-Roan Antelope
-Ellipsen Waterbuck
-Brown Hyena
-Aardwolf
-Ground Pangolin
-Springhare
-Banded Mongoose
-Black Mamba
-African Bullfrog
-Helmeted Guineafowl
-African Golden Wolf
-Egyptian Goose
-Pink-backed Pelican
-Ground Hornbill
-Duiker
-Shoebill
-Rock Monitor

I wouldn't call the coyote uninspired. It's certainly an easy, cheap inclusion for the devs, and doesn't really bring any kind of "wow" factor to the game, but coyotes are a common zoo animal that fits right into almost any North America themed area you could want to build. It's fine for what it is.

The wings are the main issue. Rheas usually appear wingless, yet in PZ their wings are more like those of the ostrich. Also the body shape in PZ is more ostrich than actual rhea.

Yeah that's fair, I do think they tweaked the Ostrich model for them.

This is from the Planet Zoo 2 Thread for any upcoming DLC Packs for this Year.

Here is my wishlist based on the 25 species of animals that have yet to appear from the Zoo Tycoon Franchise.

Masai Giraffe: I wouldn’t mind if we had a second giraffe species, they're the largest of the Giraffes, with distinctive jagged, irregularly shaped brown spot patches, and they’re of conservation importance, too, as most zoos in North America are breeding this Endangered Species more so than the Generic Giraffes.

Secretary Bird: It’s the Last Zoo Tycoon 2 Bird, and heavily wanted by the fandom, if added, it would make the first bird of prey in the game. It was hinted in the Planco Dictionary.

Honey Badger: Since we got the European Badger and Wolverine, this is a well-known mustelid that is a fearless, tough, escape artist, and they don’t care or give dang especially to people who complain, not wanting it in the game.

Gerenuk: A unique African antelope that can stand on its hind legs while browsing on leaves, and could make a great comparison to browsing ungulates like the Giraffes and the Dik-Diks.

Olive Baboon: Although we got the Hamadryas Baboon, Olive Baboons are the more classic savannah baboons in Africa.

Blackbuck: We could use an Asian or Indian antelope species, especially since they can mix with Water Buffalo and Indian Rhinoceroses.

Nile Crocodile: It’s the classic Crocodile species, most social, and would be a great African river animal alongside Hippopotamuses, Greater Flamingos, Nile Lechwe, and Nile Monitor.

Onager: An Endangered Conservation Important species, an asian equine, and would mix with Bactrian Camel and Przewalski’s Wild Horse.

Gelada: They are a unique primate due to their mountain living, grass diet, and becoming more common in zoos in Europe, and only Two Zoos in North America have them, the Bronx Zoo and the San Diego Zoo.

Ethiopian Wolf: Although none are in captivity, they would make a unique endangered canid to add. They are rodent specialists, they drink nectar and pollinate, and would mix with the Geladas. The Coyote rig could be used as it's the closest relative.

American Black Bear: It’s the last Bear to add to the game and to complete all the bear species represented in the game.

Mexican Grey Wolf: Although it’s a gray wolf subspecies, it makes a great conservation-dependent species.

Japanese Serow: A Japanese animal to add with a conservation story.

Barbary Macaque: This monkey is the only primate native to Europe as well as North Africa.

Iberian Lynx: Unlike the Eurasian Lynx, it’s an Endangered Conservation dependent species that is making a recovery.

Indian or Indochinese Leopard: I wouldn’t mind adding a fifth leopard that represents a tropical asian species to the game.

Javan Rhinoceros: There are none in captivity; they would make a unique endangered species.

Crested Gibbon: I wouldn’t mind if we had a third gibbon to add to the game and make it more diverse.

Mountain Gorilla: The only few in captivity live in a sanctuary in central Africa; they would be an endangered dependent species compared with the Western Lowland Gorilla.

Sea Otter: They would add more variety in the marine mammals, playful, cute, tool-using, and they’re an endangered species with a conservation story, and how they are a keystone species.

Walrus: It’s a highly requested pinniped and would make a great addition to any polar arctic region.

Southern Rockhopper Penguin: A penguin with those yellow feather crests and hopping on rocks would be a great addition.

Emperor Penguin: They are the more famous, well-known penguin species and would make the first true Antarctic native species to the game.

Muskoxen: It’s another arctic ungulate requested for the game and known for their shaggy fur.

What are your Thoughts and Opinions?

I agree a lot of the picks are very good, and several I really hope squeak in officially. The walrus, Sea Otter, and Secretarybird would be my highest priority. Come to think of it, I'm rather surprised we only have one subspecies/species of Giraffe - they are a case where subspecies are actually widely held in captivity.

For a few of the choices I'm not sure they're needed based on similarity grounds. Nile Crocodile and Mountain Gorilla aren't all that different from the Saltie and the Lowland Gorilla. A couple others are a little better differentiated, but not sure their chances are real high (Javan Rhino, Barbary Macaque, Iberian Lynx, etc)

American Black Bear: It’s the last Bear to add to the game and to complete all the bear species represented in the game.

If we could replace Himalayan Brown Bear with it, sure.

Indian or Indochinese Leopard: I wouldn’t mind adding a fifth leopard that represents a tropical asian species to the game.

Arguably the Cloudie takes the tropical Asian slot. Having three subspecies of Leopard in the official roster feels a bit much.

Top 10 mammals that need to make it into PZ
- Tree kangaroo (would prefer Goodfellows)
- Coati (either species)
- A species of tamarin/marmoset
- Squirrel monkey
- Howler or spider monkey
- Patagonian mara
- North American tree porcupine
- Tufted deer or muntjac
- Blackbuck or nilgai
- Musk ox
A few honorable mentions; echidna, alpine marmot, agouti, a langur species (Francois, spectacled, Javan), colobus monkey, a guenon species, American black bear, yellow-throated martin, raccoon dog, Fishing cat, Asian wild ass, Pere Davids deer, Japanese sika deer pudu, chevrotain

As for birds, the list is way to long, but for sure more waterfowl (screamer, black swan, red-breasted goose etc), storks (white, saddle-billed, marabou etc), pelicans (any species), cranes (crowned, demoiselle, sandhill etc), guinefowl, seriema, secretary bird...

For reptiles, I'd like an African crocodilian, Chinese alligator, lace monitor and radiated tortoise.

We will never get all of them. But it's nice to dream :)

personally, i think only the walrus, musk ox, black bear, honey badger, blackbuck, serow, macaque, secretary bird. nile croc and masai giraffe are the most important, they're very unique and we need more endangered species and also more niche animals.

With all due respect, there's no need to just "copy the Zoo Tycoon" franchise. Why can't Planet Zoo just be its own thing?

Like, do we really need a third leopard subspecies when nobody liked the presence of two brown bear subspecies? Or do we really need the Mountain Gorilla when we already have the Western Lowland Gorilla, especially after the complaints about the addition of the American Flamingo?
