I visited the Henry Vilas Zoo the morning of May 4, 2025. These are all of the signed species on exhibit.

Note 1: "Outdoor Yards" is mostly the Africa section, but due to the remodel it's currently unnamed on the map. The giraffe is still signed despite having moved to Green Bay and the Edge of Africa project being delayed quite a bit. I've omitted the giraffe on the list since he's not actually in Madison.

Note 2: Signed, but unseen, animals are noted in italics. Seen, but unsigned, animals have an asterisk.

Thanks for compiling this list. It's amazing that there's an AZA-accredited zoo that has numerous popular mammal species and both admission and parking is completely free. Wow.

Parking and admission may be free, but depending on when you go, you pay for it by having to park half a mile away and walking! That's a slight exaggeration but parking at the zoo really is a nightmare.
