Bali Safari and Marine Park Bali Safari and Marine Park Species List

Bali Safari and Marine Park (Taman Safari Bali) - 03/05/2025

I visited Taman Safari Bali on my recent trip to Bali, and was quite pleasantly surprised by the overall quality and welfare of the park! All the guides were knowledgeable and helpful, and the vast majority of enclosures looked quite large and suitable for their inhabitants. I saw quite a few (30+) lifer species, and had a great time during my short visit.

This species list does not include the marine park or Jungle Odyssey, which I found out the hard way is now considered part of the marine park, and not accessible for those only purchasing tickets to the main safari. I've also included separate lists of those species visible from the brilliant bus tour, as well as those only visible during the general "Animal Presentation". The species on the bus tour, as well as in the presentation, were not signed, but in both cases had an educator/presenter introduce the species.

There are also a few species I am unsure about the identity of, so I've attached photos below so hopefully someone is able to help me out :)

Barn/Masked Owl species:

I'm also unsure how the owl is kept in this open-fronted hollow rather than an aviary. Are its feet tethered? Does it have its wings clipped? If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated!

Cichlid species (found in quite a few fountains and water features):

This is an Eastern Barn Owl (Tyto javanica/Tyto alba javanica)
I would guess it is tethered by the leg, as is often the case in many Indonesian zoos.

This is new, where are these bats housed at? Or it could just be wild specimens.

The bats were housed in a small glass-fronted enclosure inside the tiger temple, at the far end on the right.

The one at Bali Safari are the Javan leopard, an 13 years old individual.

Hmm, are you sure that it's that species? It's very unlikely if you ask me, so it could be Javan peafowl or one of the color morphs of the Indian peafowl.

Thank you for the information on the leopard!

In regards to the peafowl, I didn't actually see any (nor did I see any Indian Peafowl, only Green Peafowl), but there was signage for all three peafowl species together.

@That Aussie Guy that bats are new for me, I have yet to hear about of them!

In regards to the peafowl, I didn't actually see any (nor did I see any Indian Peafowl, only Green Peafowl), but there was signage for all three peafowl species together.
That obviously means you saw a generic information board. A lot of Indonesian zoos showcase boards or signage showcasing multiple species of the same genus or group, but that doesn't exactly mean that they have all of them.
