Speculative Zoo Species List Help

It’s not like I’m anywhere near that stage of the Masterplan yet, I’m still designing the Açai Rainforest (go check it out!), so I’ve got time.

How much vertical space would be available in the two non-aviary habitats? Something like a North American porcupine or an American marten could work.
 
That could definitely work, however A: I feel that the enclosure is actually a bit too large for both them animals and B: The zoo (with the fantasy masterplan) already has a species of climbing porcupine and a species of marten. Thank you for your help nonetheless ! I’m just wondering what the zoo still doesn’t have and would work in this scenario… perhaps having a look at the species there already would help whittle it down.
 
other possibilities: bobcat, coyote or possibly red wolf as they once existed there, but I doubt they are readily available in Europe.
for a small exhibit- lots of salamander possibilities. It is considered the salamander
capitol of the world
for the aviary- bald eagle or turkey

Okay thanks for all of your help, I’ve now got an idea of the species list for that area. I won’t spoil the animals in case any of you are following the thread, so you’ll just have to wait and see ;). Again, thank you all for your help.
 
What species from the Central Outback are in need of conservation programs (breeding and possibly reintroduction (not needed) ) which are underrepresented/not represented in AZA zoos but aren't hard to keep in captivity and aren't too hard to access as an AZA Zoo?

I’m looking for species from Antarctica or that live in the waters around Antarctica. It’s for an EU zoo set-up. So more like fish or invertebrate species.

In his species research thread Mr Gharial only mentioned these three fish species from Subantarctic waters that would be available in European zoos:

What species from the South African deserts are in need of conservation programs (breeding and possibly reintroduction (not needed) ) which are underrepresented/not represented in AZA zoos but aren't hard to keep in captivity and aren't too hard to access as an AZA Zoo?
 
Any ideas for non-birds (if you know other birds that would work let me know) that would work with the following birds in a greenhouse:

Assuming a North/West Africa theme:
- Aardvark
- Straw-coloured or Egyptian fruit bat
- Northern giant pouched rat
- Common rock hyrax
- African brush-tailed or Crested porcupine
- Various hoofstock if you use the greenhouse as indoor holding (Antelopes, Red forest buffalo, Common or Pygmy hippopotamus, etc)
- Tortoises (various hingeback tortoises are from the region, as well as the African spurred tortoise)
- West African mud turtle
- Sudan plated lizard
- Common or Peter's rock agama

As for further birds, there's a few more waterfowl and passerines you could add. Some other additions could be the Spotted dikkop, one of the three West African hornbill species and the Rose-ringed parakeet

Thank you very much for the help.
I would choose Straw-coloured Fruit Bat as freeflyer and Aardfark, African Brush-tailed Porcupine and West African Mud Turtle in seperate enclosures
 
I need invertebrates for the following places, they should be found in North America in captivity or can be easily accessible;
  • North African deserts (other than scarab)
  • the Mediterranean Europe
  • Middle East
  • India/Pakistan (also amphibians)
  • Gobi Desert

India has multiple Poecilotheria species, and I think there’s a species of camel spider knocking around in the private trade.
