News between December 23rd, 2019-December 31st, 2021:

On June 1st, 2020, it was reported that on the evening of May 31st, intruders broke a lock and set (0.0.2) domestic donkeys loose. Both donkeys have been safely returned.

On July 2nd, it was reported that an employee of Peoria Park District found a bag containing cremated remains of a person on a bench right outside of the zoo.

On August 28th, it was reported that a (0.1) black-handed spider monkey named Agnes has passed away at age 48 and died from cancer.

On May 24th, 2021 the zoo announced that their Tropical Building has now been reopened to the public with some modifications, including plexiglass in the primate exhibits.

While I am aware of the fact that my following question is indeed, a bit off-topic; and although I am not too certain if they still have them around on display. I am still curious to know if the Peoria Zoo continues to display Black-and-Rufous Sengis (Rhynchocyon petersi) as of this past year (2022); and if not, then what other species did the zoo decide on to initially replace them.

On August 29th, the zoo announced that a (0.0.1) mandrill was born on August 19th.

On October 18th, the zoo announced its gender (0.1) and name, River.

On February 19th, 2024, it was announced that the zoo acquired (0.0.11+) budgerigars from the Miller Park Zoo in Illinois the week prior which will be on exhibit in spring.

I was asking the same question, whether they still have them or not and also if they still have zebra mice, African rocky python, and dung beetles,

We’re thrilled to announce the birth of a new mandrill infant at the Peoria Zoo!

Born on July 30, 2025 this little one is the latest addition to our growing mandrill horde, joining mom Kofola, dad Linus, big sister River, and “Aunt” Tara.
