Well they shut it before ....why would they go through all the time and effort to construct a temporary exhibit.
All kidding aside - permanentbased on how it said that it was coming summer of 2025 kind of sounded like it was a temporary exhibition
It will be late July-early August. Also, if it is summer 2025 that they're opening it in, I think it's because the Bronx Zoo gets high visitor traffic during that time.
Likely late June or July.As too which additional other than those previously posted I’m totally in the The Dark!
Thank you.Just got an email from the zoo, here’s some new information! “WCS Membership is your passport to a full year of family fun, including the grand opening of World of Darkness this summer. You'll be there to discover the mysteries and secrets of amazing animals that thrive in the dark, including aye-ayes, vampire bats, naked mole rats and many more incredible species”
It will be late July-early August.
That definitely sounds plausible.
I wonder. Might the zoo potentially have a return of their leopard cats (Prionailurus bengalensis) when World of Darkness reopens? I think they were there last time from what I could dig up.
I understand World of Darkness has already committed to exhibiting Sand Cats again but I also believe it is unlikely for the to exhibit Leopard Cats again .They did have them, but I highly doubt we'll see them again. They've largely disappeared from the US private trade by now so it would require an import from European zoos, where I don't think they're particularly common anymore either.

This is honestly a pretty good roster. Did we ever establish what kind of caiman it might be?Seems every email gives us a new species so here is our WOD species list so far. TBQH if they just give a few more reptile species here I'm pretty satisfied
- Pygmy Slow Loris
- Sand Cat
- Sloth
- Caiman
- Aye-Aye
- Fruit bat
- Vampire Bat
- Naked Mole Rat
Not that I recall the teaser thing with the eyes just called it "caiman eye"This is honestly a pretty good roster. Did we ever establish what kind of caiman it might be?
I keep wanting to do speculative lists but I hate to derail the thread from actual news.
Interesting. Wonder what they will do with the rest of the nocturnal galleries across the zoo.Hey guys! I checked the Bronx Zoo website. The World of Darkness page has a dark setting. And more animals have been confirmed!
Egyptian Fruit Bat
Seba’s Short-tailed Bat
Bushbaby
Broad-snouted Caiman
Northern Luzon Giant Cloud Rat
Blood Python
Timor Python
Glow-in-the-Dark Scorpions
Tarantulas
Or maybe some new surprises in this huge building…Interesting. Wonder what they will do with the rest of the nocturnal galleries across the zoo.
