Anyhow, what are the current plans with Asiatic lions at London Regent's Park Zoo?
(From the onset of the big new Asiatic lion terraces .... do now .... I just do not have a friggin clue...)????

The three (2:1) current cubs were born in April 2024, three years after their mum Arya (born June 2016 at Paignton) arrived in April 2021 to form a breeding pair with male Bhanu. I presume the youngsters will stick around for another couple years or so like the Sumatran tiger cubs have done (there is more than enough room) and perhaps the parents will get another breeding recommendation in the future sometime before or after their offspring have left. To reiterate it is currently 3:2 with the parents Bhanu and Arya and their cubs Mali, Syanii and Shanti.

Whilst the public announcement of the Asiatic cubs birth was made in April they were born on 13th March 2024

Oops that's correct sorry, I had searched for Arya for the article about her arrival and then had read the date directly of the article that had announced the birth of the cubs without properly looking at it. So the cubs will be 15 months old tomorrow and I imagine will still be at the zoo for at least the rest of this year.

I visited London Zoo today for the first time since 2008, and had a very good time! I got around most of the zoo in about three and a half hours, skipping Monkey Valley and In with the Monkeys, and I managed to see almost every animal I had written down on the checklist I made. A few things of note:
- Rainforest Life was closed, a keeper explained that one of the coppery titi monkeys had just had a baby, so the walkthrough was temporarily closed so not to stress out the mother too much. Thankfully the golden lion tamarins were in their outdoor enclosure so I did see them. Nightlife was also still open, but the only thing in there I could really see was the naked mole rats.
- The only other disappointing no-show for me was the otters, I went around their enclosure a couple of times and saw nothing.
- Amara spent the whole day in her indoor pool, so unfortunately I couldn't get a good look at her, only part of her back and the top of her head facing away from the window. This was also a shame as she was one of the main things I was hoping to see and photograph during my visit, but I really couldn't.
- I almost didn't see any tigers (not sure how many London has now), but I did manage to spot one at the very end of the visit, albeit too far away for a decent photo.
- One funny highlight of the day was that someone dropped their hat inside the penguin pool, a keeper was trying to scoop it out with a net, and the penguins were curiously checking it out.

Would someone know if they retired the male Colobus monkey, It was mentioned last year I believe or have acquired a new male for the group, Thank you?

Last year it was reported they were being kept in two groups of five, each with a mature male; with reports earlier this year there had been separations due to fighting.
I thought it was mentioned that the adult male was over represented and was likely to be retired?

My apologies @Zorro. I see from the 2023 thread the breeding male was indeed vasectomised (representation was proposed to be the reason on here) with intentions to bring in a new male. It doesn’t appear that’s happened yet, likely due to conflicts within the troop.

It’d be good to see breeding resume considering the zoo has bred so many infants in the past. In 2018, it was mentioned 18 infants had been bred since 2008.
