On December 19th, it was announced they transferred a (0.1) Bactrian camel named Audrey to Noah's Ark Zoo Farm in Somerset.

On February 14th, the farm announced that a (0.1) British White cow named Valentine was born which is now on exhibit.

On February 19th, it was announced that the farm will acquire 4 Golden Guernsey goats named Belle, Elvis, Gypsy, and Lily from the Jersey Zoo in March.

On January 8th, the zoo announced that a (1.0) Patagonian mara named Gatsby was born in late November which is now on exhibit.

On January 9th, the zoo announced they moved their Bactrian camels into a new paddock.

On January 31st, the zoo announced they started several projects around the facility, including refurbishing the Dung Heap toilets, a smoother pathway for the zoo, and an unspecified project in the former Bactrian camel exhibit.

On February 10th, it was announced that the zoo transferred (0.2) capybaras to the Edinburgh Zoo in Scotland.

Finally getting around to my trip report from Jimmy’s Farm on the 10th of May!


The newly landscaped entrance area looks really smart while also benefitting the local insects. It also provides extra seating and toilets before entering the zoo.


The shops have all switched about. With the farm shop and toy shop switching places. A small section of the new toy shop has been walled off to create a separate homeware store. This makes sense from a business standpoint to sell more toys but sadly this means the farm shop counters have been reduced down significantly with the smaller space. (I always enjoyed getting some cheese and a freshly baked sausage roll)


The wedding venue appears to have a nice new toilet block, while the toilets just inside the entrance to the zoo seem to be completely blocked off with the signs removed. There’s also some additional waterless eco loos about the park.

(I promise this is the end of the toilet news)


The old camel field now has a winding path that starts by the anteater enclosure and winds up through the woods to the rare breeds area. The completed path looks much more wheelchair/pushchair friendly but isn’t open yet. I wonder if this will completely replace some of the muddy paths in the woods or if they will all exist together?


Along this new path in the woods two new enclosures have been built and there appears to potentially be some new arrivals. It could just be the arctic fox group has been split, but to me the three individuals looked larger and upon googling more like colour morphed red foxes (two “silver foxes” and a “platinum fox” from what I saw).


The vicuña seem to have left the collection or be off show as their enclosure has been removed and is now a grass area for guests to use. The capybara access has been removed and their enclosure has been expanded back into the woods and behind the anteater house. They seem to really enjoy the access to the woodland and it’s much harder to spot all of them now.


The old Suffolk horse and Highland cow fields have been completely dug up creating mounds and ponds with a pile of very tall telegraph poles off to the side. I wonder what exciting species is coming?


The valley field in the rare breeds area has been split in two. One side has two yak (is this a new species for the park?) and the other side is where the Suffolk horses have been moved to. The highland cows are off show in the poly tunnels next to the garden centre.


Now the camels have half of the Suffolk Savannah enclosure the zebra and eland appear to be split up (potentially just to fill more enclosures during the day time) with the eland in the usual field and the zebra in a field down by the polar bears.


Lastly two thirds of indoor lemur enclosure has been walled off and gutted, I wonder if this is just a renovation for the lemurs or is it for a new species?


All in all it’s fantastic to see so many exciting developments since my last visit in July 2024, exciting things to come!

Amazing update!

Great to hear about the new foxes and the Yaks which are definitely a new and exciting species.

Just to clarify, when you say Vicuña, I'm guessing this is meant to be Guanaco?

And if the rumours of Tiger are to be true and this is the construction that is taking place near the rare breeds centre, then this will make my new annual pass very worth while

Wow the rate of development at Jimmy's Farm has been rapid since Covid! When I last went in October 2022 (first time in 2-3 years though I had made a handful of visits previously) there were a lot of changes, now it seems it will be almost unrecognisable from then. It appears they are keeping fairly quiet on a lot of this work on social media as I wasn't aware of the specifics of what has been going on this year.
Yak would be a new (and welcome) species to my knowledge, same goes for the foxes.
In conclusion I need to visit again asap or I might not be able to find my way around with all of these exciting new developments! The team there are doing a great job and I'm sure someone who came back after five years today would be gobsmacked at what has gone on.

I was unaware of the tiger rumour so I can’t help, but if it were true are Chessington planning new tigers? Or are they still trying to phase out the zoo/cut down on animals?

Wildlife Park

If you’ve visited us recently, you may have noticed that our mischievous Raccoons, Hiccup and Bobo, are currently off-show.

They’ve relocated to a wonderful new habitat in our upcoming Woodland Walkway, an exciting area that will soon be open, featuring a brand-new species as well!

The brand-new Woodland Walkway will create an exciting link between the main Park and the woodland area where our Brown Bears reside. Meanwhile, the former habitat of our Bactrian Camels is being transformed into a vibrant new home dedicated to our South American species!

Some super exciting news!

The raccoons are getting an upgrade to a lovely woodland enclosure and the new species must be the foxes I saw the other day. It also appears the guanaco are just off show and haven’t left the park (Being in the graphic for the new South America area).

It seems the park is going for the zoned approach, they currently have the Tundra area and now they are creating a new South America area in the old camel paddock and what appears to be a European zone with the brown bears, raccoons and foxes in the woodland. With lots of current residents moving to new enclosures in the park I’m eager to see what will happen with their old enclosures.

With the new (Yet to be officially confirmed tiger) enclosure up in the rare breeds area I wonder if some of the farm animals will move down to where the rhea and tapir were to gather more of the domestic animals into one area?

This is pure speculation but if the tiger rumour and zoned approach is true I could see the camels moving up to the rare breeds area next to the yak creating an Asia zone, and the Suffolk horses moving down into the field where the camels currently are (further collating all the domestics into one area of the zoo).

The park announced Kyle Thomas is now a Wildlife Ambassador for Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park.

If anyone is interested there’s a BBC show called “We Built a Zoo” documenting his journey from controversial teenage Tik Tok star with meerkats and marmosets in his house to an animal advocate dedicated to learning from his mistakes.

The interesting part is the foxes he owed in the documentary (one silver morph and two black morphs), look identical to the three I saw at Jimmy’s farm in the enclosure along the new woodland pathway. Obviously not officially confirmed, but just thought it was interesting.
