Maybe the population can chug on a bit longer if Bolt can sire calves due to his valuable genetics (hopefully he’s the father of Mai’a).

Unfortunately that seems like all it could be.. chugging on a little longer. I can’t see the species going on without fresh individuals, and given the propensity of China and Japan to capture wild specimens, that makes any imports a non starter.

The population has just seemed to suffer from bad luck plus mismanagement (why SeaWorld would ever send a proven breeding female like Catalina to MSQ is beyond me: shame on whichever higher-up decided on that). How likely is it that sperm from unrelated males will be sent over for AI like what happened with Arrow?
Considering that there’s 3 females at both facilities each without calves, they could try AI and natural breeding with the males to attempt triple pregnancies for both Shedd and SW?
ie. if all goes well ~ an additional 6 calves.
Then again last I remember the lags were given the DERP designation
And depends on capacity limits of both habitats and if they (management and care teams) would want them to reproduce - by this I mean planned pregnancy vs unplanned pregnancy.

What do you mean by “DERP”? Sorry I’m not familiar with that acronym.
"Display/Education/Research Populations", eg there is a population present that is being loosely maintained but not formally recommended. Currently Pacific White-sides are listed as studbook/TAG monitored.
Theoretically, yes. I believe there would have to be approved import permits for semen as well.
