On the Hunt for Zoo Maps

Hello all,

I am a huge zoo map buff and love finding vintage zoo maps. I am wondering if anyone here shares this passion and would like to help each other in finding maps from time periods we're curious about? Certain zoos like San Diego, Bronx, and Oregon are very well documented on the internet, but other zoos barely have any vintage maps available for view online. Here's a few maps that I am struggling to find and would love to see if anyone has

1. Gladys Porter Zoo - pre 1990's - I have an extremely blurry screenshot from my computer of a map from the 70's and would be interested to know if anyone has anything of better resolution?

2. Omaha Zoo - pre 1990's - Does anyone have a map from before the Lied Jungle? I think it would be interesting to see the zoo's layout during that time period.

3. Honolulu Zoo - pre African exhibit - Another one I'd be interested to see before their excellent African exhibit.

If anyone has any period zoo maps they are curious about, this might be a good place to ask around to see if anyone on ZooChat has one in their collection!

I've been collecting international zoo guides and maps since 1955. However, I no longer have most of them in paper form, but rather digitally. If you're interested, send me a private message.

Looking at my records i have some from Gladys Porter Zoo, will check the dates for them when i get a chance for you.

on a side note If anyone has surplus/duplicates for trade or sale from any zoo let me know as i have plenty to trade!

Hi @snowleopard , thanks for message and pm. We already made a substantial exchange of our respective collections a few years ago if you recall. I will list out the duplicates I have currently and you can let me know if they are of interest to you as there is potential some you may have already received but if there are any you do want I am happy to exchange on a 1 for 1 basis.

@Bagger Jan thank you for that offer. I am seeking specifically maps and also leaflets/brochures that you might find in a hotel lobby, tourist information centre or service station etc.

@MonkeyBat not forgotten original point of this thread and sorry to derail! Will have time to delve into the archives this evening.
