Looks like there will be a breeding pair each at the Zoo and Rainforest Wild Asia. The new female from Taipei is housed at Rainforest Wild with the young male bred in Singapore, while the young male's parents are at the Zoo.
On another Singapore Zoo topic, are there still plans to build a new elephant exhibit, or did that go away when they decided to focus on building the new rain forest parks, relocate the bird park, etc.?
I understand the new Asian Elephant habitat is at the detailed design stage. Construction will probably start after the new Sealion habitat is done or close to completion (early 2027).
I believe the plan was to utilise the current space occupied by KidzWorld.

There is a baby chimp! I saw a baby clinging on one of the adults. Unfortunately, my phone's camera is very bad, so the photo isn't great. You can just about make out its face and feet, but not much more.A video posted 3 months ago shows a baby chimp too, and it does look like Singapore Zoo, though it may have been recorded a few years back, not sure. It seems unusual that a chimp would be born and released into the exhibit, with no post on social media or anything, as they are quite charismatic. I can't find any posts on ZooChat regarding this birth either.

I currently see 6 adults, I'm not too familiar with the different groups of chimps here unfortunately.
Do you have a list of both and if / when any subspecific affiliations are known (troglodytes, schweinfurthii, verus or elliotti)
That would likely be the main group then;

Regarding subspecies:
Bianca was born at Taronga Zoo. Her mother was Biddy (wild founder, subspecies unknown but suspected to have been Western; father was assumed to be the alpha male Jojo, who was first generation).
Suzie passed last year. Ida passed a few years back.
The second group is still there. Ainka and Zanta are apart of the group and seem to be joined by two other chimps named 'Natty' and 'Mosi'.
The mother of the new infant looks quite young in this video online (approx mid to late teens), so my money would be on Ainka or Zanta, who were born 2007 and 2008.
Bianca is 46 years old and it doesn’t make sense to continue breeding from her when there are younger females.
Baby looks to have been born 2024 (anyone who watches this, do yourself a favour and watch on mute):
If Mosi is a male from another facility, I guess it would make sense if this offspring is from Ainka or Zanta.
We can rule out any of the older females subsequently, so that would ultimately mean it's either of those two girls or Asha/Akinyi from the main group. But that would mean they've mated with their father/brother.
I would suspect that M Togo, F Suzie are both wild born. Is it known from where the wild born ones originated?
F Ida: Captive bred I would believe. Where? Any information on her origins and paternity/maternity?
F Bianca (b. 11/11/1979 Taronga JoJo x Biddy: One would have to have a certified confirmation of her origins and a subspecific test...(????) to proof her subspecific station (assumptions are not the definite article)!

Togo (born 1972 in the wild) was imported from Japan in 1976. Suzie (born 1973 in the wild). She may have been imported with Togo as there was reference made to him being one of the original founders.
Ida (14/08/1973) was captive bred at the Hanover Zoo. She was the mother of Asha.
Ganga was born at Singapore Zoo in 1993. She is the mother of Akinyi.
Jengo was born at Singapore Zoo in 2002 to Togo and Bianca. Nini was born at Singapore Zoo in 2018 to Togo and Bianca.

Biddy (F) born 01/01/1950
Gemini (F) born 16/10/1970
Flint (M) born 01/12/1971
Bianca (F) born 09/11/1979 - daughter of Biddy
Georgie (F) born 03/11/1981 - daughter of Gemini
Biddy died 30/08/1989.
Gemini died 03/09/1985.
Flint died 19/05/1990.
Georgie died 21/03/1983.
Gemini’s mother was a Central chimpanzee. Sadly she never bred at Singapore Zoo and her one offspring died in infancy.
Within the last fifteen years I would say. Nini's the youngest - born in 2018, and her older brother Jengo was born in 2012. Not confirmed DOB regarding Asha and Akinyi, although from photos Asha looks older (perhaps born late 2000's?).
Also it does look like Asha may be the mother of the latest infant from a photo comparison to the video.
Suzie was apparently a Western Chimpanzee. If she and Togo had the same origins - perhaps he is too.

I'm back today, and I see the baby. Today's groups should be Togo's group. The oldest looking male's facial markings seem to resemble the interpretive with his name. It's currently noon, so they are just laying around, and the baby is only occasionally visible. The mother (the one on the right in the the photos) does appear to be the same one in the video (white markings on the left of her upper lip, and a faint line down the center of the upper lips), so it may be Asha. If I see their keeper I will try to clarify who is who.
