Parc des Oiseaux Parc des Oiseaux News

Hi there! I'm visiting Parc des Oiseaux in a few weeks and I was wondering if there are any locals / regular visitors who could help me with species lists for the aviaries and indoor areas. I like having animal pages showcasing the animals of specific exhibits with me, to make sure I don't miss anything, as I've missed quite a few enclosures or species in the past. And on top of that, my French is absolutely abysmal.

If you want to help me, maybe send a private chat, as to not fill up the news thread too much ;)

In 2025, the Parc des Oiseaux reopens an area dedicated to Asian hornbills. This visiting area has not been accessible for several years.

Three aviaries will be for Blyth's Hornbill (Rhyticeros plicatus), Rhinoceros Hornbill (Buceros rhinoceros) and Wreathed Hornbill (Rhyticeros undulatus).

Two others will be walkthrough aviaries with arboreal and aquatic Asian birds.

Architectural design and vegetation will be typically Asian (bamboo, rice field).

Quite a few memorable hatchings here!

Two queries:
a) Wonder how many little bustards the zoo is hatching annually?
b) The cinereous vulture is a first breeding/hatching (or have they bred/hatched previously)?

I don't know if there have been any bustard hatches in previous years.
This hatching is part of a project to preserve the biodiversity of a military site. The eggs were collected from the wild, with the aim of raising the young in an aviary before releasing them this autumn. Source and second source

The Parc des oiseaux has 3 pairs of black vultures as part of the “Barnabé” program (breeding center for Bearded Vultures, Cinereous Vultures and Little Bustards). There was already one birth in 2023 and one in 2024.
