I was contemplating the strong support for Paris in this one as well. Burgers has so much more than just the dessert and in contrary to some I love the savanna there. The species composition and the size of the groups make it very pleasant in my view. Plus it not being a grassland area by itself some of the Rimba species can be counted in this contest on top of with some of the other species in other parts of the zoo. So for me the edge goes to Burgers even though I do go for 3.2. I like Paris but especially in Vincenne as the enclosures are just not to my taste (I wanted to write kitschy but that wouldn't be fair, in the end it is just not my cup of tea).

And importantly Paris still keeps pinioned birds mixed with hoofstock in multiple enclosures, while this is generally considered bad practice....
Doesn't Burgers' also still have some flight-restricted birds, those being the pelicans on the lake in front of the savannah?

Despite complaints from certain quarters about how close it got at one point, the result ended up being a pretty solid victory for Burgers:

Paris - 56/120 points - 46.667%
Burgers - 64/120 points - 53.333%

This particular match has been a pretty good example of why it is important to post one's reasoning and thoughts, on multiple levels; initially Paris was lagging far behind until myself and Kalaw posted our thoughts, with the result that things became much closer, and later the vote count stalled at a total of 75 points until a late-stage post by @lintworm caused a flurry of late-game votes!

In other words, even if the result seems secure, it is always worth speaking up!

I find it pretty disrespectful that you say certain people were "complaining" about how close it got, when no complaints were voiced

They've not been ahead at any point, as a matter of fact :D

As a matter of fact Paris was ahead 1 vote at the time I voted, including the vote by @Haasje

This is just an example in the whole Zoochat Cup, where I think that as a host of said cup, you aren't exactly neutral, which doesn't really work engaging. In some cases you actively post wrong information about what certain collections have to offer, the Stuttgart-Prague match is just one example. I could "fix" that, but in general I haven't found much joy in posting on the whole of Zoochat lately, hence my absence for most of the past 2 months. While still lurking from time to time, I certainly don't miss posting on the forum and once I log out again, I doubt whether I will be back anytime soon. There are better ways to spend my time.

No disrespect was intended - I took your remarks about being surprised Paris had pulled ahead as a complaint that (as you've now clarified) it had done so, but happily retract this statement.

Ironically, avoiding the risk of bias is one reason I've been *trying* to encourage other people to post what collections have to offer... but unfortunately participation has heavily tailed-off in this regard.

I would be interested to hear your advice/feedback on anything I have omitted relating to Stuttgart, and hope to hear back from you before it's too late for me to rectify this!
