Informations about walk-through exhibits with macropod species in the UK zoos are highly appreciated here ... Thanks in advance.

As far as I know:

Dudley Zoo: Bennetts Wallaby
Woburn Safari Park: Bennetts and Parma Wallaby
South Lakes Wild Animal Park: which species?

I think that there could be one of these exhibits coming to colchester later in the year, in the renewal of the "familiar friends" area, this was stated in the recent newsletter as "a walkthrough australasian exhibit".:)

Manor House , West Wales , has a walk-through with Bennetts and I think some parma wallaby , as well as muntjac deer .

Marwell has a walkthrough in two sections one with bennetts wallaby and the other with parma wallaby, it is quite large mostly planted with long grass and some bushes.

Longleat has a wallaby wood which is just bennetts wallabys.

Paignton has a wallaby walk-in area which i think is home to bennetts wallaby too (Not sure if this is still there)

Longleat has a large walk through Wallaby enclosure. I think you can walk in the Western grey Kangaroo enclosure at Paignton. I have a vague recollection of a walk through Wallaby enclosure at Trago Mills near Newton Abbot.

Yes, Paignton Zoo's walk-in area has Western Grey Kangaroos. I was there on Monday so I can confirm this.

As far as i can remember South Lakes has Red Kangaroo,Western Grey Kangaroo,Swamp Wallaby,Red-necked Wallaby and Parma Wallaby in the walk-through all the other species they keep been in enclosures round the walk-through area.

what about the river sand walliby?

Like i said in my post the rest of the species are kept in separate enclosures round the walk-through area but you cannot walk in with them only the species that i listed are in the walk-through area.

The newly-opened Yorkshire Wildlife Park has a walk-through enclosure with Bennett's Wallabies. Their website mentions Parma Wallabies too, but I didn't see any on my visit.

Isle of Wight Zoo has 2 young Parma Wallabies on-show that are being readied for a modest supervised walk-through area in the near future.

Tropical Wings Zoo has a good sized walk through featuring Bennett's Wallabies and Mara, which are tame and can be fed by the public at one of their encounters...

How many macropod species are there hanging around in because all that seem to be mentioned are bennets and parma wallabys, red kangaroos and grey kangaroos. Are there any species that are a bit more unusual e.g. Rock wallabys, quokkas ect.

Wish there were such species over here !!!!

Apart from South Lakes ( whose record I believe to be rather poor - yes they breed some rare species but they have also had large numbers die ) macropods are not very well represented in the UK . I am not certain if South Lakes has any rock wallabies left - all the others in the UK have gone . Blackpool had some interesting species in its early days , but no longer .

Thanks for You all the informations. I was at Marwell yesterday and saw the mentioned Australian Bush Walk exhibit with Bennetts in one section and Parmas with Kookaburras in the other.

I am really interested in the exhibits at Paignton and Dalton ... and so if I want to see potoroids in a walk-through I will have to go to Amersfoort ...
