Let's hope this thread is more successful

Looking for tigers in UK collections that have either been rescued or needed to be rehomed either from a circus, closed down collection or from private owners.

My current list (there maybe more)

Wildheart Sanctuary Isle of Wight

Lola 0:1 - ex-circus died 2017
Simi 0:1 - ex-circus rescued 2016 died 2019
Mondo - ex-circus rescued 2018 died 2021
Girona - ex-circus rescued 2018 died 2021
Antonella - ex-circus rescued 2018 died 2022
Natasha - ex-circus rescued 2018
Zoppa - ex-circus rescued 2018
Softi - ex circus rescued 2023
Toph - ex circus rescued 2023

Big Cat Sanctuary

Narnia -
0:1 ex circus white tiger rescued 2015 died 2021

Woodside

Tango -
1:0 died 2016 aged 22yrs
Julia - 0:1 died 2025 aged 19yrs
Both rescued from circus 2014

Potential tigers to be rehomed 2025

Noah's Ark -
Aqua - ex circus tiger
Lincolnshire zoo - Aleks - white tiger in Ukraine, possible pet?

Would Heythrop be classed as a private collection? If so how many tigers are there and do we know their history?

Feel free to add any other tigers I may have missed

With them being ex-circus and Aleks being a possible pet/private ownership I doubt we will ever know what exact sub-species they are.
I would just hazard a guess that these are all generic(possible hybrid) tigers with no known breeding history.

Probably Bengal/Siberian then, that's the favored mix for circuses and private ownership alike.

Sorry - I through the tile of the thread was UK Tiger Rescues.

By all means, if you can change the title then be my guest, however, If you don't like or agree with this thread please feel free to remove yourself.

Words have meanings, and being opposed to classifying "rehoming an animal from another zoo" as being synonymous with "rescuing an animal" is not merely splitting hairs :p

In fact, considering the fact that "we disagree with zoos existing, so any animal we obtain from a zoo is a rescue" is an unfortunately-common claim among anti-zoo organisations and individuals which own a captive collection themselves, I reckon we should actively avoid giving credence and support to the synonymy!

I can't believe this whole thread has gone off course just because of its title.
I need a moderator to rename it or delete it because of my mistake with naming it.

But the tiger in question was still a rescue animal, whichever zoo it is housed in now, so it clearly fits in with the thread even if a person didn't bother reading the opening sentences. Even the initial nitpick by @ZooNews2024 said "It has already been rescued. it would simply be a re-home."

I've renamed the thread to that.
