Can anyone tell where in the zoo were they or what happened to them? Sorry for the last one, I can't write on it again, although no one is saying where the Greater Hill Mynah, Fennec Fox or Chinese Painted Quails were kept. Do anyone know? I also have some that I do not know where they were kept (most of these are Parrots and Cockatoos). Here are they:

Long-eared Hedgehog
Coquerel's Mouse Lemur (Not Night Life)
Red Mantled Tamarin
Banded Mongoose
Timor Deer
Maxwell's Duiker
Blue Duiker
Thomson's Gazelle
African Forest Dormouse
Pallas's (Red-bellied) Squirrel
White Stork
Woolly-necked Stork
Crested Screamer
Diamond Dove
Umbrella Cockatoo
Sulphur-crested Cockatoo
Goffin's Cockatoo
Moluccan Cockatoo
Lesser Sulphur-crested Cockatoo
Fischer's Lovebird
Blue-fronted Amazon
Orange-winged Amazon
Red-lored Amazon
Yellow-fronted Amazon
Blue-and-yellow Macaw
Yellow-naped Macaw
Scarlet Macaw
Severe Macaw
Blue-crowned Conure
Lineolated Parakeet
Yellow-streaked Lory
Vasa Parrot
Lesser Patagonian Conure
Slender-billed Conure

Why do you keep doing this? - who are you? and, what is your motive?

I am AdamT. I know 75 percent of Marwell Zoo's animal locations. I just need to know some stuff. I am at England, in Dorset, in Poole. My motive is that I play on my computer playing Planet Zoo. I had done the 1974, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1995 ones and I am still working on the 1998 one. I got the 1974, 1977, 1981, 1982, 1990, 1991, 1995, 1998, 2004, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2024 and 2025 guidebooks so far. So who will know where they were kept?

Nice to have an answer - with your final question about the last 5 years, you can find the animal inventories for most, if not all, by simply searching "Marwell Zoo animal inventory" and then the year.

Some I have off the top of my head

Arrivals:
Bush Dog, Clouded Leopard, Rock Hyrax, Southern Caracara, Chacoan Mara, Brazilian Cavy, Banteng, Red River Hog, Bearded Reedling, Red Handed Tamarin, Geoeldi's Monkey,

And then deaths/departures:
Bush Dog, Clouded Leopard, Blesbok, Marabou Stork, Black & White Ruffed Lemur, Javan Mouse Deer, Nyala, Nile Lechwe, Wonga Pigeon, Red Handed Tamarin

I am not up to date with my reptiles so can't help much on that front, but hope that is useful.

Mouse lemurs used to be held in what is now bokiboky's indoor quarters in Life Among the Trees.

Some other new species that were added for Thriving Through Nature (opened in 2023).
African spur-thighed tortoise
Egyptian spiny tailed lizard
Rough scaled plated lizard
Green toad
Turkish killfish

Thanks NMM who will know the others? Maybe Zooboy knows?:)
Well, Zooboy knows some but has neither the time nor the inclination to go through that long list - especially if there are even more species that you wish to find out where they were housed. However, I can respond to a few at a time, but it would help if you provided the years that the species were in the collection.
There are a surprisingly large number of psittacines mentioned; few people would associate Marwell with keeping many, if any, species of parrots. There was a cage specifically for the blue and yellow macaws located fairly close to the old Jaguar enclosure, although these macaws were also moved elsewhere - to the Stable Yard at least. There were, to my recollection, only two other main areas where parrots could have been accommodated.(on public show); the original Children's Zoo (which initially housed black-capped lory, streaked lory, and sulphur-crested cockatoos) and the range of cages behind the old gazelle sheds (now mainly rebuilt as an off-show quarantine area) . The original Children's Zoo also had budgerigars, a psittacine you did not mention; these were also kept in an aviary at the end of the South Road nearest the exit gate and close to the former pudu enclosures.
For the benefit of someone older than you, can you explain the motive between the need to know where animals were kept at Marwell and playing Planet Zoo?

I don't play it myself, but I believe recreating representations of real life zoos in the game is a bit of a trend at the moment. It sounds like Adam is trying to recreate various iterations of Marwell.

Zooboy, thanks for some of the parrots and a macaw species. What about the non parrot ones?:)
Sorry, I made a mistake. I do know where the Mynah was kept and it was located in the Childrens Zoo that used to be the old tapir habitat (I think this children's zoo lasted from 1982-circa 1990). I just forgot for a moment.:(

Alright, TNT. Zooboy will know! He's the smarty of most of the animals that used to be at Marwell Zoo (and maybe other zoo's)!

Question: When the Asiatic Lions arrived in 1978 and were kept in the Macaque cage, where were the Macaques kept? I had been wondering for a while.;)

Just a friendly piece of advice - if somebody knows the answer to your question, they aren’t obligated to give it to you, and assuming somebody knows the answer to your question, repeatedly asking a specific member, persistently can and often does, come across the wrong way.

As mentioned above, ZooBoy is very knowledgeable regarding Marwell, however, they have previously stated they have neither the time nor the inclination to answer these questions. Just because they may or may not know the answer, doesn’t mean they’re inclined to share it with you.

Given the long list you have asked for previously, you maybe better directing your question specifically toward the zoo itself.

The Asiatic Lions were never kept in the Macaque cage, as other people have said you are asking for to much information. ask the zoo.
