She was alive as of 2012, however had passed away/been sent elsewhere by 2021.Does anyone have any information about a chimpanzee named Victoria that was in Detroit with Mookie? They were both sent to Dallas and Victoria is no longer there.
Yes she apparently was, at least as of 2012. Unfortunately, I'm not sure exactly as to what happened to her, but perhaps another member on here will know.Aw. I assumed so. Was she still in Dallas at the time? Do you know what happened? She was not very well adjusted. She suffered a lot of injuries when I was with her and had a probable heat stroke.
I found this record for her with the NCBR, indicating that she passed around ~2013 - early 2014 at the Dallas Zoo: 954 | National Chimpanzee Brain ResourceDoes anyone have any information about a chimpanzee named Victoria that was in Detroit with Mookie? The infant was named Nakili.A female chimpanzee was born at the Detroit Zoo on July Fourth! She was born to 34 year old Nyani (0.1) and the male was not announced. Detroit Zoo on Instagram: "We’re delighted to share that Nyani, a 34-year-old chimpanzee born at the Detroit Zoo, welcomed her first baby — a healthy girl — on July 4, 2025. It was a remarkable way for our primate care team to celebrate the holiday. Nyani and her newborn are doing exceptionally well as they adjust to this new chapter together. For now, they’re bonding behind the scenes and gradually being introduced to the rest of the chimpanzee troop. They’ll have access to public areas of their habitat once our animal care staff determines they’re ready.
