North American Chimpanzee Population

Does anyone have any information about a chimpanzee named Victoria that was in Detroit with Mookie? They were both sent to Dallas and Victoria is no longer there.

Aw. I assumed so. Was she still in Dallas at the time? Do you know what happened? She was not very well adjusted. She suffered a lot of injuries when I was with her and had a probable heat stroke.

Yes she apparently was, at least as of 2012. Unfortunately, I'm not sure exactly as to what happened to her, but perhaps another member on here will know.

I found this record for her with the NCBR, indicating that she passed around ~2013 - early 2014 at the Dallas Zoo: 954 | National Chimpanzee Brain Resource

I checked the 2023 studbook for further information, but it doesn't contain any historical data for deceased individuals (other than those who had passed since the previous publication).

Figured I'd provide more information for Hovatter's since I was there towards the beginning of August. They have at least 7 chimpanzees currently. There is a troop of 5 adults and 1 newborn (looks quite young) in an 'enclosure' inside the zoo and a single individual in an enclosure outside the main entrance building. However, I have no information on sex of the individuals. There conditions have somewhat improved since the photos that TinoPup posted as they have more climbing opportunities. The lone chimp cage is actually quite decent, but the family is much less of an ideal space.
