River Wonders River Wonders News 2025

Has there been any loan extensions for the 2 pandas that arrived in 2012? All I know is that initially it was supposed to be a 10 year loan.

Not sure if anyone cares about fish, but the park is in the middle of acquiring some new fish species, some are already in quarantine. Not entirely sure what the full roster is like, but I am sure about the following;
- El Fuego (aka Fogo) Peacock Bass, Cichla mirianae
- Javan Mahseer, Tor tambra
- Sebarau, Hampala macrolepidota
- Tengalan, Puntioplites bulu
- Red-tailed Giant Gourami, Osphronemus laticlavius
- Black Ink Barb, Barbodes bunau
- Tanzanian Rainbow Mahseer, Labeobarbus sp. Malagarasi

Are we getting an Indonesian river themed exhibit in the future?

The Asian fish here will probably go in either the Ganges River temple tank, the Mekong River tank or the small tanks next to the sailfin lizard and Vietnamese pond turtle exhibit

Does anyone know which exact peacock bass species RW has besides potentially a few hybrids? They do have speckled peacock bass and may have kelberi iirc

Speaking of the Ganges River temple tank, I noticed that there are now Indonesian fishes there such as giant gourami and giant snakehead, and many of the native Indian fishes that used to be there such as the goonch and catla catla are gone (I saw these 3 back in 2014, along with bighead carps and clown knifefish).

Very small updates:

Signage for the Cardinal Tetra and Tiger Silver Dollar Tanks were added for all the species within, though the Dwarf Puffer seems to be missing from the Cardinal Tetra Tank

Roti-Island Snake Necked Turtles have replaced the Vietnamese Pond Turtles in the Sailfin Water Dragon exhibit, with the Fire Eels seeming to be missing

the Dwarf Puffers are still on display

speaking about signage changes, the Australian Lungfish info sign has been updated with the names of the 4 individuals.

The changes happened a while back alongside many other signboards who swapped to be fully English, like the Indian Gharials and the big 3 species of the Mekong Giants Tank
thanks for the correction. i must've overlooked it since i don't usually pay as much attention to the Lungfish's exhibit than the other 2

What other languages were previously used on the signs, do you know?
for some signs, the names of the animals were in English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil while the texts were in English. other signs were already entirely in English

English, Chinese, Malay and Japanese are the typical 4 languages on a signboard. I don't recall much about Tamil in some signboards as @FoxBat mentioned, but I do recall JBP had Korean at some point for the African Penguins.

Some of these signboards still retain the 4 languages, though most aren't regarding the animals and they're starting to slowly disappear
