Greetings all,

Potentially a daft question... just moved up near West Midlands Safari Park and considering a visit, but I don't drive. The website mentions the Safari Walk, but how much do you actually miss out on by not being in a car? Is it still worth the visit?

You can still see some of the safari drive through but the animals that are both seen on or from walking safari and drive safari are African lions, giraffes, white rhinos, African elephant, cheetahs, tigers and probably some other animals that live on the African Plains drive. Some animal that might be of interest that can only see from the car safari are Barbary sheep, blesbok, anoa, banteng, dhole, Indian rhino, blackbuck and a few deer species and or subspecies.

There’s still plenty to see by foot and you can pay extra to go on a tour with a guide in a mini bus, which is worth the small fee (£7.50 when I last went but possibly increased now).

You can still see some of the drive through animals on foot via the African Walkthrough (Elephants, cheetah, giraffe and any animal in the first African section).

But you won't see animals like the Indian Rhinos, Dholes, main pride lions (there's a bachelor group of male lions at the lodges in the African Village, and the white lions on the African Walkthrough) Wild Dogs, white tigers or camels for example.

You can still see tigers in Tiger Tropics and the hippos, and there is the Discovery Area that includes the penguins, Twilight area. Reptile and Lorikeet House.

But there is an option to buy tickets for the mini bus that will take you through the drive through, so you don't need to use your car if you're not confident with driving around the animals yourself, or just don't have a car.
