I know I will take a hit here, but I was thinking that with so many people visiting zoos, wildlife parks, aquariums, etc., that through combined member observations and contributions we could create a pretty comprehensive zoo/aquarium species database.
Which could also include ratings and exhibit pictures.
I'm sure this has been done, but I thought I would ask.

Hello,

This website, Zootierliste, might be similar to what you're talking about: ZootierlisteHomepage

Also, I made this thread a while back but it has not been updated much since: North American Zoos Species List Directory (2022) - ZooChat

It looks pretty good. However, there is no way to really query the data or even update it.
Living in South Carolina, I noticed that the only list is the Greenville Zoo. And I know there has been several changes since 2021.
Also, Riverbanks Zoo isn't there, along with numerous qildlife parks and safari parks.
Being that I am systems analyst by profession, I was thinking on a more structured database.
What do you think?

Zootierliste is, as others have mentioned, really the best database for zoos. It is better for European zoos than north American, but nothing stops you from creating an account and contributing yourself!

ZTL is user-edited. You can either register or simply send them a message with changes / additions.

Riverbanks is on there.
