Keas in North American Institutions

Tracy Aviary is currently incubating two kea eggs. The sire of the clutch is three-year-old Tahi and the dam is three-year-old Ora. If fertile, the eggs are expected to hatch between February 20 and March 6 of this year. This pair has not yet produced offspring.

Do we know if the Edmonton Valley Zoo (or really, any facility in Canada) still holds kea?

If so, how many individuals do they hold nowadays?

Trevor Zoo at Millbrook School - Millbrook, New York (Total: 1.1)
  • 0.1 Bad Penny 3/15/2001 (Ha-Tupatu x Kura-Ngaituku)
  • 1.0 Admiral Ackbar 3/26/2014 (Antonio x Kiwi)

Worth noting that in June 2025, the zoo mentioned their keas are no longer on-show, as they were replaced by binturongs. I am unsure if they are behind the scenes or have left the facility/passed away (they were not on the latest USDA Report).
