Melbourne Zoo Melbourne Zoo history

RE: Internet Archive has some old annual reports by the Zoological and Acclimatisation Society of Victoria about Melbourne Zoo, from 1872-1934 fairly consistently, but also two about 1859 and 1860 when zoological collection was being established gradually. There's 26 documents - link & source: Zoological and Acclimatisation Society of Victoria Reports: Internet Archive: Digital Library.

This is the species list at Melbourne Zoo for 1904 from the annual report record for that year (source: Internet Archive: Digital Library, specifically: https://ia803101.us.archive.org/5/items/annualreportzoo00zoole/annualreportzoo00zoole.pdf). While it does list all the species held at Melbourne Zoo in 1904, it does not list the number of individuals per species at the zoo. Found it an interesting list and thanks to Zoofan15 for pointing out this list among them during that era in particular for something he noticed that polar bears were listed that year for first time. Species classifications very of the time 121 years ago, but some are still of course the actual scientific names used while some have been retired from use, and species and subspecies and defunct sp & ssp as everyone could imagine would be the case, + some interesting names for some of the species (well as can be seen with the species lists from 1877 & 1888 Zoofan15 shared on previous page in this thread).
