This is *somewhat* the case, although I would argue that the gap in relative quality is a lot wider, and that the gap in relative "extraordinariness" is a lot narrower, than the above statement would imply.... as I hope to demonstrate anon.

And since it is undeniable that both have a stunning African collection, that's the point where Chester is getting more points from me, although it is probably much closer than 60:40 suggests.

Oh, definitely - which is another reason why the single 80:20 vote for Prague is so egregious, along with the resolute refusal to discuss reasoning.

I went Chester but I could be swayed back the other way by the gorillas, but the addition of the new area with some great new exhibits, wonderful aviary and including the Roan antelope mixed in among a more ‘classic’ savanagh swayed it for me along with Madagascar.

Another close one though for me it would be small percentages at most and makes me appreciate how great it is to have such lovely collections to look at and compare. And really it’s a could go either way thing again.

Honestly, looking at both of the images for Prague and Chester, it seems Chester is just better at this, considering how new and fresh Heart of Africa is. Think it is an improvement over Prague's exhibits, which is why I think it's 60:40.

I think 3-2 either way can be justified but votes of 4-1 not really!
Both zoos have their strengths but for me Chester lacks something here. The brown hyaena, ratel , hippo ( even if exhibit isn't the best), gorilla, galago ,cheetah? .
Anyway neither are the best in the cup for Africa, I will still maintain Beauval is the best for exhibits and species in this category it would get a 4-1 over either of these from me

Though I personally don’t take issue with a 4-1 vote itself (for me, 70:30 would be justifiable even if 80:20 isn’t), the refusal from said voter to discuss is a bit infuriating, and the completely logical suspicions of having an agenda that it leads to ruin the fun, light-hearted nature of this competition a bit.

You do realise your vote is a 80:20 vote rather than 60:40? :p still time to adjust it down if this is inadvertent.

I see your hyena, ratel, hippo, gorilla, galago and cheetah and raise you (among others) hunting dog, mandrill, black rhinoceros, aye-aye, sifaka and congo buffalo :D:p they both have some *very* nice category species in some very nice (barring the hippo) exhibits, which is one of the reasons this match is so fun and deserves to be so close.

From all I know of Beauval - bearing in mind it is the one Cup zoo I have not visited as yet - I think that it would fall into a very close three-way tie (or close to it) with both Prague and Chester were three-way matches a possibility; the only Cup zoo which I think *would* stand a reasonable chance of an 80-20 split against Prague or Chester is actually Zurich.... although even there, the gorilla exhibit would severely mar its chances somewhat.

Chester -- 55/105 points - 52.381%
Prague - 50/105 points - 47.619%
