Hi!

I recently visited this zoo.

Name: Dai Nam Zoo
Location: Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam (Binh Duong until 6/2025)

I will be making a visit report and species list on this thread, but I want to clafify some species first.
The zoo has poor signages, and I was not able to identify some species in the indoor exhibit.



Can anyone help me with identification for these animals?

I think:
1 -> Changeable hawk eagle
2 -> Javan mongoose
4 -> Burmese ferret badger I think, looks too robust for Chinese and facial markings are more diffuse.
5 -> Black eagle (Ictinaetus malaiensis?)

Not sure for 3.

This zoo has extremely poor signs. There are many missigned and not signed animals. I'm quite sure I'm missing a bunch of small species.

Oh they had this species?
The zoo had a lot of empty enclosures, and also a lot of enclosures with chicken and peafowl. Probably they had more species in the past.

I browsed through the tourist photos on Tripadvisor in 2024 and saw that they once kept a golden cat with a very dark coat, but the environment was far from ideal.

Oh this looks like the old small animal house. Yes, the environment there is horrible.

The thing is that, most enclosures there were not signed, and some seemed to be empty because. The animal could be still there, and I might have missed it.

But at least they're doing some improvements in the past few years, and making new and better enclosures that are opening soon.
