Ancol is a theme park located in North Jakarta. Ancol first opened in 1966, and currently there is 1 marine mammal park, 1 public aquarium, and 1 zoo.

There are probally few zoochatters that went here, so I create this thread for those who haven't go there and also those who were interested to go here.

Allianz Eco Park and Faunaland
Faunaland is located inside the park. The entrance for Eco Park is free, but you need to pay to go to Faunaland. You can rent a bicycle or a golf cart to explore the park, bicycle are prohibited in Faunaland.

Animals of Allianz Eco Park
* Siamang (Symphalangus syndactylus)
* Australian pelican (Pelecanus conspicillatus)

There is also small petting zoo named Learning Farm, where young visitors can interact with ducks, rabbits, turtles, and even a water buffalo.

Animals kept off display are black giant squirrels, sun bear, Irian Jaya blue-tongued skink, ball pythons, and changeable hawk-eagle.

Ocean Dream Samudra
Ocean Dream Samudra features several animal shows, a small aquarium, and a 4D theater. The trained animal shows include a dolphin show and sea lion show. The 4D theater projects 3D image movies with sensations such as cool breezes and water sprays located inside a large building with Mesoamerican pyramid theme. In 2011 Ocean Dream Samudra will be revitalized with the budget Rp.27 billion ($3.1 million). Ocean Dream Samudra now holds the "Under the Sea Musical Dance" attraction at Underwater Theater. A new Bird of Prey show is being built at the former site of the Scorpion Pirates show.

I find it interesting that Faunaland keeps quite a few species from other parts of Indonesia but doesn't have some of the more well-known Javan species such as Silvery Gibbon, Javan Langur, Banteng, or Warty Pig. Are there other zoos around Jakarta where those can be seen?

You can see them in Ragunan Zoo located in South Jakarta, although they didn't have any warty pig yet.

Did they still have the hippo in the animal show? I'm sure I've seen one.

What a shame. I visited that place when I was a kid and was pretty much amazed by it. Although I gotta say, now that I'm older that Hippo isn't really living in a very ideal condition anyway. The fact that Hippo is easily approached by humans shows that thing isn't really living he best.

And I think I still remember Sun Bears in that Animal Show too. Did they moved or died?

This should definitely need an update! Now that there's the Jakarta Bird Land and Faunaland now having Sumatran dholes and Arabian oryx, among others.

The single female named Sapta is now presumebly being taken away and held by the previous general manager Fardhan Khan, who have his own falconry center and also the one who bring Sapta in during his management of Faunaland.

Since Fardhan Khan is now working for Jagat Satwa (IDK what he does there now), I have a feeling Sapta might be transferred to Taman Burung and kept off-display there. I hope they'll do a proper birds of prey exhibit so they can house Sapta, Gurkha and the other birds of prey including their Bonelli's eagle. They had a place called "Plaza Raptor" for their birds of prey but did not last long as they're tethered and unable to fly freely.

The photo Fardhan Khan posted of the Papuan eagle seems to be an old one when he was the manager of Faunaland, so honestly I wouldn't be able to fully confirm if TMII truly keeping Sapta now (Despite having the species labelled in the Jagat Satwa website).
