Just to clear it up for people. They are cougars not jaguars.

The two cougars were named Asha and Orion
  • Also an older news from February, the Parc Safari was sold to BTP Tourisme Canada and Société Immobilière Sym for 4.5 million, including other fees. As a result of this, Serge Lussier became the director of Parc Safari. Serge Lussier is the commissioner of the CAZA. He hopes to improve the quality of Parc Safari and become "the most important zoological destination in North America."
  • Also, the Zoo is now open year-round, 7 days on 7.
  • And the exciting news: The Parc Safari indeed received the Calgary Zoo's snow leopard pair(Tadashi and Leika). He also said they hope they will reproduce as part of the SSP.
  • Andddd, the Parc Safari is expected to house three snow leopards born at the Zoo Granby last year when they reach 18 months old, so in the Fall. I hope to see them at Parc Safari.
  • Andddd, the zoo requested the SSP to receive some Amur Tigers but he says that it will take some time since they are endangered animals. He said he will have an exhibit that has a large cat observation area so we can view them year-round. I wonder what happened to their previous individuals.
  • They have a new event center for weddings and other.
Big changes, new animals coming to Parc Safari

I didn't even expect to have so much incredible news. I am very optimistic about the project Lussier will undertake to improve the Parc Safari. Since his arrival, he is renovating the Olduvai boardwalk, renovated the felines tunnel and the deer park and added the alpaca walk. I really hope Parc Safari will be AZA accredited or participating in SSPs. I am really excited to see what other projects he does to make Parc Safari better. I am just really amazed by these projects. I am excited.

I would be great to see more Canadian zoos in the AZA and part of the SSPs, not only for the SSPs but the more zoos we have in Canada the better all of them can participate in the SSPs. That being said, the AZA does have a pathway to accreditation program, and while there are a number of Canadian Institutes on that list, Parc Safari is not one of them, although hopefully that can change.

Regardless very exciting updates to hear!

He has some nice plans and being from the AZA / Canada network ... it may well proppell Parc Safari into the mainstream of zoos (true they already have some nice species by way of surplus from some of Canada's prime zoos ...,). Dr. Lussier's plans certainly look to have made an immediate impact already on Parc Safari, and not just in terms of getting confirmation for breeding loans and pairs of some big cat species!
