Zoo Boise - Species List (August 2025)
This is the first comprehensive species list for Zoo Boise to be posted on ZooChat! Zoo Boise, located in Julia Davis Park in downtown Boise, first opened in 1916 and is currently owned and operated by the City of Boise Parks and Recreation Department. I’ve put together a comprehensive species list for the collection, noting subspecies where appropriate to provide more taxonomic detail. With the exception of the invertebrates, I have followed the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species for all common and scientific names. For clarity, I have divided the collection based on the Zoo's major exhibitions. All mixed-species exhibits are grouped together as well.
Red Panda Passage
In an exhibit not accessible to the public, the Zoo also houses 1.0 variegated spider monkey (Ateles hybridus) who shares a habitat with 0.1 Central American spider monkey (Ateles geoffroyi).
