What a year for the population thus far! Four births (and three females to boot!) And a fifth expected for the year is just fantastic. And there are still an additional three unannounced pregnancies to go, some of which could easily be due this year as well!
E Maximus stated so in the population thread when it was created in January:Where did you hear there were 3 unannounced Asian Elephant pregnancies?
There were originally 4 unconfirmed, but with this calf's birth that number is now 3.Four surviving calves have been welcomed into the population with 8 confirmed pregnancies and 4 announced for the years to come.
And phoebe may be the number four.
Phoebe’s pregnancy has been announced unlike the other 3.
well I couldn’t think of who else. Oregon? Houston? New Mexico? New York? St. Louis? It seems unlikely for various own reasons.
I doubt Oregon given a calf was just born there earlier this year to their one reproductive female. Minus Jade at Saint Louis and Shanti at Houston because both have calves that aren’t a year old yet, the rest are possibilities.
There are numerous likely cows. Fort Worth, Syracuse, Houston, National, White Oak, etc are all strong possibilities. Columbus is the last announced, so it's anyone's guess as to whether the remaining three calves will be due this year or next. It is also possible any of these cows could've miscarried.well I couldn’t think of who else. Oregon? Houston? New Mexico? New York? St. Louis? It seems unlikely for various own reasons.
Fort Worth Zoo's calf has been named Lady Bird "Birdie"!
