Does anyone know where in the zoo the lone Fijian crested iguana from the shipment a few months ago is on exhibit?
2nd floor of Cool Critters in the children's zoo.Does anyone know where in the zoo the lone Fijian crested iguana from the shipment a few months ago is on exhibit?
A not so good half shadow picture and I googled that bird and I believe so!! Wow!!Looks like an Himalayan monal
Now, I love those announcements! Two very rare and threatened species and notabel births! The hoofstock baby boom has spread down to the Zoo, with one Soemmerring’s and two Speke’s gazelle calves having been born recently! All three calves can be spotted with some luck in their respective exhibits.
Another hoofstock birth for the Zoo! A Canvendish’s dik-dik calf was born this week, and it can be seen with its parents in their exhibit in Elephsbt Odyssey.
As mentioned earlier it seems like the zoo is actively making the choice to hold tuataras off-display to help with breeding. Chances are we won’t see tuataras on exhibit for quite some time. The next two projects for the Zoo are updating polar plunge and building a new exhibit in Asia Passage.I know that there was plans, for at least a decade ago, to build a facility to put some of the tuataras on display, which was scrapped due to budget reasons. Is there still ”life” to those plans? Seems like a shame to not display them, although the species ligger not be recognised as special by the public.
It’s sad the 4D Theater will close down, but would make more space for future animal habitats. As mentioned earlier it seems like the zoo is actively making the choice to hold tuataras off-display to help with breeding. Discussions have previously centered around transforming the current Urban Jungle/Bear Grottoes into a new Asian themed area; so not Asian Passage specifically. What new exhibit is going into the Asian Passage?

However with no current director, it's obviously not confirmed. We'll just have to wait and see where the next one will decide to go with things once they're hired.
Not confirmed directly by the zoo. @RJB Wildlife stated in a post the following a post from earlier this year;Is the Polar Bear Plunge specifically confirmed?
- The Polar Bear Plunge Project is rumored to begin after the Halgloween event this year. I’m being told that the focus will be centered around the kids play area and other interactive elements. The filtration system has been completely removed and the pool is drained every Monday.
