They have recently arrived. The new pinniped enclosure at Zoo Rostock is almost ready and is currently being filled with water. The opening is scheduled for early July. Two male Cape fur seals will be moving into this new enclosure later this month. They are 6-year-old Eda from Zoo Praha and almost 3-year-old Alfie from Zoo Wroclaw. They will be sharing this enclosure with three common seals.

They have moved to Zoo Wroclaw. At the beginning of October, Cape fur seals Teo and Zuri will be moving from Parco Zoo Punta Verde to another zoo. Which zoo this will be will be announced shortly. The zoo will then no longer be a holder of fur seals. They believe that the current enclosure is not suitable for keeping this species in the long term.

The last Cape fur seal at Zoo Berlin died in 2020. Until 2017, she was also accompanied by two Northern fur seals.Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but I was under the impression Berlin Zoo held fur seals, but I don't see them on these lists -- did they move out of whichever fur seal species they once held?
Thank you for filling me in. Much appreciated. The last Cape fur seal at Zoo Berlin died in 2020. Until 2017, she was also accompanied by two Northern fur seals.
