Singapore Night Safari Singapore Night Safari News

Small update: Northern Luzon Slender-tailed Cloud Rats have returned to the collection, with 2.0 arriving recently. Not sure if and when they will go on display.

Also I've heard about plans to move some of the Zoo's surplus African Painted Dogs to Night Safari. They might take up the exhibit spaces vacated by Red River Hogs or Bongos, as these are supposed to move to Rainforest Wild Africa next year.

Is Singapore Zoo expecting to receive any gundis? A few years ago, a Japanese zoo had an agreement to send Northern Luzon slender-tailed cloud rats and gundis to Singapore Zoo.

I think you're refering to Saitama Zoo? I've not come across any plans for Singapore to import Gundis. The species doesn't quite fit with the current collection plan either.

Question for those familiar with the Mandai 5-park ticket.

I just booked my 5-park ticket for Mandai and will be visiting all 5 parks between november 10th and november 14th.
For the Night Safari, I had to select a date of my visit, which I knew was a thing.
However, I was not able to choose a time slot.
I got assigned the 7.15 time slot. Does that mean I can not get in earlier?
I was planning on getting in as early as possible (6.30) to take advantage of the last bits of sunlight for photography purposes.

How strict are the time slots? Will I be refused entrance if I get there earlier?

The Night safari will open its gates at 5.30-6 nowadays, mainly to allow people to queue up for the Tram and the Creatures of the night presentation, oh and also for guests to eat dinner. The staff will only allow guests to start entering into the walking trails at 7pm. Likewise with the first tram departing the station at the same time.

I see. With sunset being at 18.50 in november, I guess there's not really a way to do the trails with some light remaining.

I wasn't really planning on taking the first tram due to queue times.
What would be advisable regarding the presentation? Do it early or later in the evening?

Would that be the 2 females that are never displayed or would they break up the big pack?

My personal take is that unless you really want to see the Marbled fox, the presentation is pretty skippable if you are at the park to photograph its collection as a priority.

To add to this, it's not a guaranteed thing too as Marble has a very inconsistent schedule on when he actually comes out. Some days he does not even show up for a single show at all.

Thanks. The marbled fox is not a priority, so I will consider skipping the show.

I'll be visiting on a Friday and just found out there's not pangolin feeding on Fridays, so I might have to pass by their enclosures a few times if I'm not lucky on the first try... oh well
