Ideas for birds that could be mixed with bowerbirds (Fawn-breasted and Flamed)?
They can be mixed with many birds in large settings like at the Natural Aquarium's Australia Wild Extremes. Includes; peaceful ducks, crowned pigeon, white collared kingfisher, imperial pigeon, collared finchbill, starlings, woodswallow, masked lapwings, laughingthrush, honeyeaters, bulbul, parrots, golden-crested myna, etc.Ideas for birds that could be mixed with bowerbirds (Fawn-breasted and Flamed)?
I have these main sections;
- Dia De Los Muertos diurnal section
- Halloween spooky section (mostly nocturnal)
- Greenhouse with butterflies & marigolds
- Outdoor area
Here are some more:Same Zoo, different exhibit. WHats the best animals for a not so scary Halloween/Dia De Los Muertos temporary exhibit
It would be odd as they don't occur naturally there (they are in warmer regions). There's no point in having a Tasman Sea exhibit if you aren't even starring a native animalWould it be a bit odd to have a Tasman Sea–themed tank featuring the sand tiger shark as the main species?
Would that be like having gorillas in an African savanna exhibit?
East and South African kopjes, specifically small animals that could be kept in indoor enclosures
South African deserts animals for nocturnal section and conservation priority small animals for indoor section
Animals in "Sloth Bear Forest" exhibit focusing on Deccan Plateau, Indian deserts, and other arid South Asian places
Sunbittern, wattled jacanaDo you have Ideas for an outdoor Pantanal aviary mainly housing perching and other smaller birds?
Main species in this aviary would be the Brazilian Merganser. Other inhabitants would be Blue-crowned Motmot, Epaulet Oriole and Great Kiskadee.

Interesting choice of the mergansers for a Pantanal aviary, as the species isn't found on said biome. About the other species, the rest should work fine, although the kiskadees could represent a risk for bird chicks, if there's the intention of breeding.Do you have Ideas for an outdoor Pantanal aviary mainly housing perching and other smaller birds?

Good point so the geographical theme will be the Cerrados, where all current birds seem to live (according avibase) there.Interesting choice of the mergansers for a Pantanal aviary, as the species isn't found on said biome.
Interesting lineups! Do you mind if I suggest you on some species for a Cerrado aviary? The speculative zoo that I'm building is focused on the biome and its fauna, so I can share some of the ones I've picked for my own aviaries.Good point so the geographical theme will be the Cerrados, where all current birds seem to live (according avibase) there.
So the current species lineup is:
Tataupa Tinamou
Brazilian Merganser
Rosy-billed Pochard
Picazuro Pigeon
Spot-winged Pigeon (don’t think there’s a risk of hybridisation; Walsrode keeps three Patagioenas in one aviary that’s smaller than that one would be)
Sunbittern
Blue-crowned Motmot
Great Kiskadee
Epaulet Oriole
Scarlet-headed Blackbird
Yellow-rumped Cacique
Red-footed Tortoise
Thanks for the help

Of course
There’re some aviaries around this aviary so maybe I’ll find some inspiration![]()
That’s a little complicated, as it’s not clearly if there‘re Amazonas Motmots or Blue-crowned Motmots in Europe and ZTl lists the European ones as Blue-crowned Motmots with the Amazonas Motmot‘s Latin name so I mixed them up at some pointand in the case of the motmot, not even native to South Amerca![]()
The Yellow-rumped Caciques are one of those, right?Your suggestions are cool, but only very few of the birds that you listed actually live on the Cerrado. Most of them are either native to the Amazon, Patagonia or the Pampas (which is a different biome, a lot of people and zoos mix them up)
Yes, the Caciques are indeed one of them. The other ones would be the Scarlet-headed blackbird, Sunbittern, Epaulet oriole and the Blue-crowned Motmot (if it is the Amazonian Motmot the species you're looking for, they're indeed found on parts of the Cerrado). The pochard and Spot-winged pigeon can be found on tiny fragments of the biome, based on what I could find, but most of their distribution is found outside the biome, so I wouldn't count them as well. That’s a little complicated, as it’s not clearly if there‘re Amazonas Motmots or Blue-crowned Motmots in Europe and ZTl lists the European ones as Blue-crowned Motmots with the Amazonas Motmot‘s Latin name so I mixed them up at some point

May I ask what’re the other ones?
Specifically, I'm looking for;
- Seasonal winter-themed exhibit (like Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, New Year, etc.). It has the following spaces; outdoor aviary that used to have black vultures & ravens, indoor enclosures (both large & small), "greenhouse" with open-topped aquarium & free-roaming species & former macaw aviary & former open-topped iguana enclosure, and outdoor aviary that used to have barn owl. One important thing to know is that the zoo is in Las Vegas
