I checked a recent ISB and found 1.1 got transferred to Fukuoka Zoo in 2016. I think they were born in Zoorasia in 2004. That's a shame for the bear! I don't know what the polar bear enclosure is like at Kumamoto Zoo, but the one at Kushiro Zoo is tiny:Next month, Maruru, the female polar bear, will be moving to Kushiro Zoo in Hokkaido, meaning there will no longer be any polar bears at Kumamoto Zoo.
This also means that there will be no polar bears left in any zoo across Kyushu.
True, the enclosure in Kushiro is far from ideal, but the one in Kumamoto is even worse, so this transfer is actually for the better.That's a shame for the bear! I don't know what the polar bear enclosure is like at Kumamoto Zoo, but the one at Kushiro Zoo is tiny:
