Drayton Manor Theme Park Drayton Manor Theme Park Zoo

Very good addition to the zoo, seem to be doing very well this year. Not visited in a couple years but just checked the website and saw the rhesus macaques aren’t on there and realised neither are the fishing cats. Anyone know what’s happened to either species?

I didn't even notice both species had gone from the website until you mentioned that. Perhaps someone who's visiting (or has been lately) can give us some insight as to what's been going on.

So, the Fishing cats died off and the Rhesus macaques of which two remain were meant to be transferred elsewhere but haven't due to medical concerns.

Thanks for the response.

Shame about the Fishing cats. I remember them, the tigers and Black leopard being there at Drayton Manor's zoo since I was very young (around the early 2000's). This means they are down to just one feline species now, the Northern lynx.

I wonder if they have plans to bring in a different small-cat species, or re-purpose the enclosure for something else like Asian short-clawed otters.

Thank you for sharing the information.
Sad news about the fishing cat, really hope they are able to get the species again considering it’s a really nice and suitable enclosure for the cats.
Shame about the macaques aswell as they were a good specie in the primate section but the zoos made really good progress this year with the new additions so hopefully they’ll be able to continue

Red pandas have a new enclosure! Feel like it’s about time and definitely overdue, hated seeing them in the caged enclosure. I’m glad they’ve been moved to an open space with trees, how a normal red panda enclosure should be. It’s been built on the grass section next to the donation well by the lynx. Still great investment and improvements happening this year

I used to love seeing the Black leopards in that caged enclosure (although now I must admit it wasn't a great feline exhibit overall), but was disappointed that they got replaced with red pandas of all things.

And what on earth happened to those plans they made years ago, to build new exhibits for the leopards and bringing back penguins!!

Saw the binturong today they are in the former fishing cats enclosure though no signage as yet. The former red panda enclose remains empty currently
Interesting.. I didn't think the Binturong would go into that space. Perhaps there's still potential for the larger enclosure to contain Fossas or Clouded leopards.

Was there any work going on in the former red panda enclosure?
Does anyone know where the binturong came from or how many they have?

3 masked palm civets are now in the old tarictic hornbill enclosure.

I also saw a keeper working in the old tree shrew enclosure, so these are also potentially returning to the Dino Trail area
Interesting additions.

Any new changes yet to the old Red panda enclosure as of late?

Have the tarictics gone or just moved elsewhere in the zoo?
