Planet Zoo Planet Zoo!

It has all been very quiet over the last couple of months since releasing Americas and Asia packs on consoles. I suspect that Frontier have been very busy with new Planet Coaster 2 DLCs in that time.

Fingers crossed that we will hear something pretty soon on Planet Zoo regarding the next DLCs, and I hope there will still be a few more.

Also gearing up for Jurassic World Evolution 3 - which given 2 came out after PZ feels too early, but there's other factors at play in that one. I feel there may well be another DLC or two for PZ though for how things seem to be playing out.

Has anyone tried on recreating a real life zoo on Planet Zoo?

Over the past year, I have been recreating Twycross Zoo from around the mid 2000s which is looking good so far but still a fair bit to do. I plan to copy and paste this zoo so I can keep it and start work from how it looked in 2010 and every 5 years after that.

I have also done a few enclosures and buildings from Chester Zoo including Oakfield house and the stable block.

I'm hoping to dive back into Planet Zoo soon, does anyone have any tips for someone who has played ZT1 and ZT2 for literally two decades but has played PZ for maybe an hour max of a tutorial so far?

The first 3 tutorial scenarios are very easy and straightforward with Nancy helping you along. The rest of the scenarios are mainly zoos to fix up, expand on or start from scratch. Some are easier than others but good fun.

Definitely start with the in-game tutorials, but I'd also suggest finding some Planet Zoo creators on YouTube. A lot of their tutorials go beyond what's shown in the game and really give you a better idea of what can be accomplished with the system's features. I personally recommend @adamup's profile, his videos really helped me get my start.

JustGoron has a full recreation of Beekse Bergen and I've seen a Burgers' Zoo on steam and a Blijdorp on reddit, so that's three Dutch zoo recreations. Not sure about other zoos but statistically there should be a lot out there

I haven't seen all that many British zoos recreated on Planet Zoo on YouTube except a couple of people doing Chester, and London 1904 and 1985. I am really enjoying doing Twycross but still a long way to go.

I do plan to recreate the house at Manor House Wildlife Park if I can find enough photos of all sides.

Does this mean that is it for the current Planet Zoo game or do you think we still get the odd new DLC or a big finale DLC?

I am so happy to have my console version of this game as I was worried well before console release that I would never get a chance to play it but now I can and really enjoy playing it.

Pretty sure that’s it now. If we had got an anniversary animal then maybe there was a chance of more content but this looks like a clear end of support and on to the sequel.

An old free update that still hasn't made it onto console versions yet is the animal burrow camera for the guests to see on a TV screen. I had a look yesterday but nothing and looks very unlikely that I will get this feature.

So apparently this feature is coded into the game under the same system that allows file uploads - that is to say on the PC version zoo screens can effectively stream a view from elsewhere (ie a burrow, or a strategic camera placed in the enclosure) OR they can display photos you take in-game (possibly all image files, I'm not entirely sure as I've never played the PC version).

There are a load of legal hurdles around both Sony and Microsoft that disallow the uploading of images into a game, even if the game itself is the source of those images. This means the entire feature is missing from consoles, and I suspect it would be costly and complex to rebuild the burrow streaming and image uploads systems independently of one another. My guess is that it may be a feature that comes to consoles in some capacity in the sequel - now that they know the original has impressive traction and usage on all platforms.
