Weltvogelpark Walsrode news from Walsrode 2025

I’ve known about these for a while, but now that someone added them to Zootierliste, I can list them here as well :) New for the park, although still behind the scenes:
- Adamawa turtle dove (Streptopelia hypopyrrha)
- Mourning collared-dove (Streptopelia decipiens)
- Red-eyed dove (Streptopelia semitorquata)
- Vinaceous dove (Streptopelia vinacea)

It feels like Walsrode's collection of Columbinae must have almost doubled in the past year

Some of those 38 they might already have ;)

How many Australian Brushturkeys does Walsrode keep?
If I‘m informed correctly, an older male is on show and some years ago Walsrode got a couple of them from Berlin, but it was not long on show. Do they still live?

Walsrode got 0,2 Western Capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus) and 1,0 African White-backed Duck (Thalassornis leuconotus) from Cologne.
I guess the capercaillies will be placed in the Black Stork aviary where they were housed for many years, replacing the Bianchi‘s Pheasants and the duck in the African waterfowl aviary at the Uhu-Burg, although this aviary is a bit overcrowded
