Also the zoo noted (via comments) that giant river otters will still be added, I am assuming the small otters are temporary or maybe use in rotation? (Though they won’t fit geographically but habitat/ecosystem wise, unsure just speculation on my part)

The comment reads to me like they’re working on acquiring the giants but have to get through the whole extensive SSP process. I respect them at least getting some otters to fill the space so the exhibit can open with a full animal complement (which, given how long it’s taken to open, I feel like they kind of had to get something in and make it happen).
