Chester Zoo No more cubs for Asha & Asoka

Singapore in Europe? I'll have to relearn my geography.

Please, mate ... save the point scoring for another day! ;)

Singapore as a participant in the Asiatic lion EEP. It has been known to happen in other EEP taxa (f.i. drill Mandrillus leucocephalus) too, you know!!

Besides apart from a possible Indian zoos coop, there is no other region with other than the EAZA/EEP that operates a coop programme for Asiatic lions.

The few hybrid specimens outside India can be safely ignored.

Same with the two collections with Gorillas in australia which are affiliated to the EEP programme.

It happens where animals are held by somewhere such as Singapore which is not in either Europe or America, so they have to be affiliated to one or the other programme.

Apaprently the problems with Tejas and the second cub whose name I have forgotten were unrelated. It may just be a case of bad luck.

Although the problems were unrelated, the fact that both cubs had these problems indicates a genetic problem to me... :(

That's the sort of comment that Dr McCoy was always making to Mr Spock - and he was always wrong ;)
