Longleat Safari & Adventure Park Does anyone want any info from Longleat?

when i went to Longleat last october i was told by one of the keepers that they suspected resina was pregnant after several matings several months before with unjanu. It was murashi that was paired with winston. :)

That would be great news!

Can anyone confirm the rhino pregnancy before long?

is the 3 water buffalo still at longleat?
does anyone have any information about the otters in pet corner.

Regarding the otters, I only know the odd bit. I'm sure there will be someone who knows a lot more than me, but here goes anyway:

Rosie and Johnny the Otters were kept as an intended breeding pair until several years ago when Johnny died. They never successfully bred, as far as I know. Longleat then brought in Romeo to partner Rosie and they have had many litters (as far as I can tell, I tend to go anually in the summer and there's always young otters about.)

Romeo the otter came from Cotswold Wildlife park he and Rosie have had at least 3 litters although one litter all died last year or the year before.

does anyone know what happened to the two water buffalo that used to be kept in the big game park? i remember them beign seperate from those in the monkey jungle. an electric fence was erected to stop the two males fighting through the fence, they seemed to have just disappeared.

Well have you ever tried those tasty burgers they sell? :p

1 male, 3/4 female, 1 calf born recently. male came from west midlands (i think), age unknown. first offspring at longleat. some of the females are quite old.

The male is on a two year loan from Woburn Safari Park. He will go back next year. Do you have any more details on the second calf?

They had 2 females for a number of years. One of these died and 3 more females were brought in from Germany. They always planned to breed them but didn't get a male until last year. It must have been over 6 years ago that they brought the 3 females in from Germany.

Found this picture of a porcupine in Longleat's ferret enclosure on flickr, if anyone's interested.
